Starlink Mini

This has just moved to the very top of my list for TT goodie’s. Can’t say I even knew it was a thing until now. We had toyed with the idea of using the wineguard Wi-Fi that came with our camper but everything we read about it was less than stellar.
We have the Winegard on our 5th wheel with a Verizon 4G card in it, and it works great as long as you have service. I gave up trying RV campground Wi-Fi as it was typically slow or hard to stay connected. Having said that, we like the Starlink Mini also

I ditched Dish after 26 years so we're left with YTTV over Mobile/WiFi right now. Wasn't worth pursuing Starlink for this summer (shoulder surgery and only one hunt and one camp) but I'm looking at it for next year. Close friends we go with often have Starlink so I usually just mooch off him. I was too far away from his hub during Dove Camp, and the other trip was a rally we went solo. My unlimited mobile running 5G was 4-5x faster than the campground WiFi.

A few places we go don't have mobile (or good enough) service so Starlink will fit that bill for the few months during the summer we use it. I had been considering the Standard for the WiFi6 but the jury is still out.

I'd like to see how you implemented that.

Just received an offer to get the Starlink Mini for free. It arrives in Standby mode which is $5.00 per month added to my regular residential bill. I can switch it on to the 50Gb per month or Unlimited plan for half price. I haven't figured out how long the half price deal lasts yet, though.
It's a little tight to get the cover opener closed and you need to help it a little bit but it fits. The suction cups are the sticky kind so I try not to take it off to move the router, it's also hardwired into an aux switch.

The magnetic mounts look nice if you want to be able to move it, but I just leave it in the truck full time and don't have to worry about theft.

I activated the Wineguard in my camper using an AT&T sim. A year or two later AT&T changed their service in a way that no longer worked for me so I canceled it. I still let the Wineguard operate as a repeater for my residential Starlink while parked at home.
As a modem it’s only 4G at best so phone hotspot is just as effective if not better.

Another shoutout for the Starlink Mini here. Just added one to our TT a few months ago. Having internet in the middle of nowhere with WiFi calling is fantastic!
