Squeaking Sound from Exhaust (Hemi)

I've noticed kind of a squeaking sound on cold start that goes away in a couple min. It is coming from under the passenger side front door so my money is on the muffler or its connections. It sounds kind of like a belt slipping so just to be sure I threw some belt dressing on the serpentine belt but it made no difference. This is on my 21 PW. It is down at the dealer now and has been sitting there for 3 days with some excuse as to why they haven't looked at it yet. I am going to go pick it up Monday whether they have looked at it or not (IMO, not even looking at the truck in 3 business days when I made an appointment 4 days ahead of the day I dropped it off is unacceptable).

Anyway, just thought I would check to see if anyone else had seen this issue and/or knows the cause. Anyone?

Thanks

There is a sticky thread in the" power train's" section relating to your issue. You can join the party there.

I am in that party, the sound you are hearing the Ram 6.4 doing is quite common. So far nothing detrimental. I have grown accustomed to it and it reminds me, I have a “work” truck. i.e. I need to “work” on the truck :)
Joking aside, it’s an operating characteristic that a lot of us 6.4 owners have experienced.

I found a broken tie bar between the two exhaust pipes just behind the catalytic converters. The crack is just above the passenger side exhaust pipe. I welded it up and we’ll see how long it lasts.

I may need to add another bracket / tie bar to help it hold up.

The attached picture is looking to the rear from just behind the catalytic converters.

I heard it on mine when I test drove it but it went away after it warmed up I guess. I told the salesman it sounded like a tensioner. I just thought I will bring it back for them to replace it later. I wanted out of that place after a few hours. Now I'm thinking they will tell me it's normal. It doesn't sound normal, sounds like a bad tensioner nearing or something. Oh well, quality has tanked on every brand, so it is what it is.

It's actually just loud right after starting and it squeaks all the time. It's a shame because I love the truck but it sounds like a piece of **** most of the time. Can't believe they haven't addressed it.

It sure is disappointing. I agree. For what we pay for our vehicles I don’t expect the onslaught of cracked manifolds/exhaust leaks to begin on day one. I have tried addressing it with two different dealers. Normal.

I’d call it a design flaw but it’s odd how the noise changes/almost goes away after it runs a few minutes….or the choke opens.

Yes, but when it first starts, my friends were asking what's wrong with it. It really sounds like a bad pulley or something. I don't understand how it gets passed R and D. Did they think we wouldn't notice?

Why are you in dealerships for hours still in this day and age?
I dont think ive been at a dealer longer than 1 1/2 hours from the moment i pull in the lot to the moment i pull off, buying a vehicle.
