New member and owner of a 2019 3500 Dually with Cummins engine.

In the process of upgrading wheels and tires, but have not found a programmer or tool that will reprogram the speedometer/odometer for the increased tire size.
Dealership recommended I contact Rough Country as they are unable to re-program.
Spoke with Rough Country and their calibration tool, according to their representative, will not work on the 2019 3500 with the Cummins engine.

Has anyone on the forum had success with recalibration of speedometer/odometer.

Thanks in advance for you responses.

Thank you for the reply, but the only tool mentioned in your referenced thread is the Rough Country for gas engines. The poster mentions a tool for diesel from Rough Country, which I read and called Rough Country and discussed with them. Turns out the Rough Country tool for diesel engines only works through 2018 models.

Hence my request for anyone that has tried a specific recalibration tool on a 2019 3500 cummins diesel, and if it worked as it was supposed to.

Thanks again for the reply, I am just searching for an answer and have a hard time believing that a recalibration tool is not available for these specific trucks.

Have you tried AlphaOBD? Lots of guys are using that on their '18 and older trucks, not sure if anyone has done it on a '19+ though.

I have spoken to Hypertech, they are not 2019 Cummins compatible. I am looking into AlphaOBD, but I have not found anyone that has successfully used this on the 2019 Cummins either.

It would be nice to have a “technical” or “how to category” on this site where things like RugbyRef’s info can be moved to. One where this great info can be pinned without anyone being able to comment under it to keep it simple and uncluttered. Yes I know you can do a search but there’s times, especially as the forum ages, where you may have hundreds or even thousands of posts to go through to find what you are looking for. Just a thought...

This will do it. https://www.zautomotive.com/product/tazer-ram/

It comes with the bypass but an easier solution is to order this as well.

The entire install took 10 minutes plus the actual tuning. I installed it with 500 miles on the truck and it has been absolutely transparent since then after another 6500 miles. It will get it perfect. I'm not the only one that has used this setup. It's been mentioned on this site before.

@Marshfly - just so I'm clear in your post above - either option will work? I noticed the option from ZAutomotive has the "Tazer Ram" which apparently allows me to change my settings in EVIC. The option from Kaodtech is only the bypass connection. What allows me to change the parameters in EVIC with the Kaodtech device? Do I need something similar to the Tazer Ram?

Thanks in advance!

No, they are additive. You would need both. The Tazer Ram is the part that enables the changes. It comes with a bypass that requires you to remove almost the entire dash to install behind the Nav display. It would work fine with that by itself. The Kaodtech replaces that included bypass module. The Kaodtech installs in 5 minutes by removing like 2 screws under the steering column and bypasses the security module. The only thing the Kaodtech lacks is the functionality of in motion Nav inputs. I wasn't risking taking apart my dash and scratching something or introducing rattles for that.

To clarify, these trucks have a security module that is designed to prevent hacks like this. You need a module to bypass it. The Kaodtech is one option that is a super easy install.

Then you need a programmer to actually make the changes. The Tazer is that. It also comes with a bypass module but the install is ridiculous.

My Tazer came with the security bypass module. 2 different types actually. One like the link you shared and another that required getting behind the radio. The downside is that they recommend uninstalling and unmarrying the Tazer from the vehicle every time it goes to the dealer. Love the auto fold mirrors on shutdown/startup. Also like that my fog lights don’t cut out with the high beams.

Another thing that is nice about the Tazer is enabling low and fog lights when high beams are enabled and also mirror retract when the truck is shut off. Neither of these are available stock.

Perfect! Looks like the Kaodtech for the bypass and the Tazer for just the module. Thanks very much!!

Yea. When I read that I needed to uninstall the bypass when I brought the truck in, doing the one behind the radio was a no-go. Thus, the Kaodtech. Mine only came with the behind the radio one.

I ordered mine on Black Friday. It came with both. The instructions were pretty unclear that they had provided 2 options, and that it was an either/or. I did clarify with them prior to installing it. The behind the radio option looks to be the better produced version, but as has been hit on by several above, I wasn't about to sign myself up to remove the radio every time I needed to take the truck in. The wired bypass option is pretty unruly, but nothing a couple zip ties couldn't fix. Oddly, one of the connectors on the below-the-dash wired bypass isn't a perfect fit into the board in the truck. The instructions that came with it even said you'd have to trim a little plastic tab. That was the most difficult part of the install...trying to convince myself that I wasn't cutting off the wrong tab. Having installed the unit once now, I'm pretty confident that it will take less than 2 minutes to uninstall/reinstall when service is required. Even with practice I think it will take quite a bit longer to get behind the radio, plus the chance of increasing the rattles in the dash by taking the little plastic clips in and out a bunch of times.

And I just checked on their website...it now lists the option behind the radio as the 2018 RAM Bypass Module, and another OBDII T-Harness Bypass Install for the 2019. Both are in the box.

Good Luck!

I didn’t have to do any of that with the Kaodtech. It just plugged right in like factory and the wiring was exactly the right length.

I bought mine in late October.
