Any suggestions on upgrading my standard 6 speaker setup in my 2019 HD?
Didnt realize how terrible the sound was until I compared it to my DD.

Ive done a little research, and know that the front doors have shallow mounts... but I cant really find anyone suggesting speakers besides the Kicker set.
(And im told the kicker front door 6x9's do hit the metal window rail that could lead to rattle down the road.)

Im looking for something that is as close to a straight swap as possible (no drilling / modification)
Better sound (w/o adding amp & sub - unless its plug and play)

Anything else besides the Kicker package?

Thanks!

Crutchfield is usually a great source for after-market audio upgrades. They have an extensive database on which speakers would be a direct replacement.
Yeah, and I did look at them. They only have the MTX Terminator series 6x9s as fitting our trucks. I havent been able to get much feedback on them yet... but they're on my list just for the simple fact Crutchfield lists them. (They are 2 way - would rather have 3 way).

Was just kinda hoping someone else found a 6x9 set that works and confirms better sound quality than stock I guess

In my '12 I put a 5 1/2" component woofer in the front doors. I wish I had done a 6 1/2" instead

I’ve been visiting Crutchfield off and on. They haven’t done much research on our trucks yet, and I bet they don’t until after all this Covid-19 stuff is done. They don’t even have the small screen radio as an option. Do you guys know which trucks have factory amplifiers and which ones have ANC?

Clutchfield has a lot more now, just ordered replacement speakers for my truck, they have a whole bunch of options now.

Ill let everyone know how they fit once I get them installed

Just 6x9 in each of the four door. And yes Crutchfield.
I’ve been looking a little bit at this, which 6x9s did you purchase? They bolt right in? last time I bought from crutchfield the mounting holes didn’t line up, but I made it work, just would rather not have to do that.

Does anyone know if these will fit our trucks with the basic 6-speaker setup?

They do show to fit 4th-gen. I wonder what the difference is.

New to the forum, but wanted to let people know my experience.....I have a 2015 2500, with the RA2. I did a kicker upgrade on mine. I ordered (x4) kicker 6x9 DS's for the doors and (x2) 3.5's DS's for the dash. Also got the wiring adapters so they were plug and play.
Back doors and dash were easy and perfect fit, the front doors were a different story though. I ended up needing 1/2" spacers, had about a 3/8's gap from the magnet hitting the door bar. Only issue I had was I ordered DS speakers, they upgraded me to CS's 6x9's without asking or telling me, they work great and sound great, 100% better than the stock speakers, but I feel that the DS's would have been better since they are lower RMS, and the sound would probably be better with the low wattage factory head unit.
I found acompany called LLJ Customs that makes a harness that plugs into the factory head unit, it intercepts the speaker wires so you can run an amp without cutting wires or replacing the head unit. I'm thinking about buying the harness, but the thing stopping me is the fact the dash speakers and door speakers share 2 of the 4 channels (4 channel stereo) 3.5's are like 30 rms, the doors are 150 rms, so if I get a 4 channel amp, the rear are perfect, I can do a 600 watt rms amp (150 rms per speaker) but the front are the issue. I'm going to over power the 3.5's and underpower the front 6'9's, being that they will share the 150 rms.
Anyways, hopefully this helps someone out that is trying to retain their stock stereo while upgrading the sound system.
