Spare Tire Guide preventing 35" spare from fitting?

Hi All - I attempted to install a 35" spare on my 2022 Power Wagon the other day, but was unable to get it in there. Upon looking up at the spare tire winch, I noticed it had a "guide" of sorts, which appears to function as a way to keep the spare tire in a relatively fixed location. Ultimately I believe this blocked my 35" from going in.

I had a 2021 2500 CTD that this spare was in place for, and I don't remember this guide being there. Anyone else seen this before?

my 2020 has that same piece and my 35 Toyo RT fits fine. Just need the right technique. I have had a buddy who told me his 35 Nitto RG would not fit on his 2020. Told him to come over and showed him how.

My 21 also has that piece as well, 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tire fits, it just takes the right angle to get it started. You have to get the tire on angle above the track bar then keep lifting it into place. Friend has a 22 and the 35' tire fits as well. We trimmed the heat shields on both trucks to fit (find Crustys post on that mod)

Hmm. Thanks both. Guess I need to go back out there and try it again.

My BFG's fit up there with about 30ish (cannot remember exactly) PSI in them.

don't feel bad. I couldn't get a yoko geolander 35, nor a toyo at3 35 to fit. even aired them down to 20psi. tried all the angles and it was a no go.

I 100% know a Toyo at3 will fit. I have had Toyo at3's and they are actually smaller than the Toyo RT in 35's. I swap tires back and forth all the time and it is technique....

As I mentioned previously, I had no problems on my 2500 CTD with the same setup. I'm used to the dance to get it in. But as @elephantrider stated, dimensionally there was no way to get it in. I also had it deflated to about 15psi at one point.

I actually checked the tire through the process to see if they put the 37 on the spare wheel, but it was the 35.

any advice here on specific way you get these into a tight spot?

I managed to get mine (35) RG in there as well. Had to remove the heat shield completely and deflate a bit

Bfg tire.
Cut part of heat shield off.
Angle front of tire up and over track bar.
Then continue raising into place.
No need to air down.
Pictures in my build thread.
