Spare parts to keep with you

Just fine and dandy if a dealer is close by.....and if you are away from hometown may need to apply credit card to pay for rental car, hotel, etc.
If you need a rental car and a hotel, you very likely aren't fixing your truck on the side of the road on your own. Regardless of the tools you may have.

Not necessarily true, overall I would completely agree though. Having decades of experience in the insurance and auto repai industry have made me overly cautious.

Unlikely example
I had a buddy have a fuel line crack from vibration over time and it wasn't instock anywhere local. Online was a mess. Being out of state and trying to ship to a hotel is a nightmare. CC flagged the charge as fraud which caused a further delay. $10 19mm wrench,15 min to remove and install, and a $60 #1 fuel line could save a ton of time and money.

Much more common example would be breaking down after most places are closed or in a small town that doesn't keep basic parts in stock. I have been to plenty of remote parts of PA,VA,NC where this is the case.

Parts avaliable being pretty scarce basic parts could be days or weeks to arrive in more populated areas. Also rental car prices have sky rocketed.

A few years back pre-covid, water pump bearing failures were an issue. Several forum members got stranded on side of road, usually event happened after hours, away from home. As usual the parts were not readily available, stocked at the dealer or readily available aftermarket. Not many carry spare water pump, phones, credit cards and posible car rentals are the required tools. Today the current issue is the dreaded CP4.
