Stupid newby questions........Do all Ram 2500 4x4's have a solid front axle? Do any years have independent front suspension? If only solid front axles, are there any issues with steering, wheel alignment, or premature tire wear?

All Dodge/RAM HD trucks are Solid front axle.

Some model years have had their bouts with death wobble. Tire wear is on par with any solid axle front end. Factory alignment is often recommended to be set to "Thuren" specs.

Death wobble is scary when it happens! My 98 1500 had a solid axle and it developed DW. I replaced the frame side end of the track bar with the type of end on the 2500s. It got much better but there was still DW if I hit a large enough bump at the right speed. A caster adjustment finally fixed it. My 2007 had DW after I lifted it. Either the toe adjustment or new tires cured it. Did both at the same time. Typically something is loose but that wasn't the problem.

I haven't had any weird tire wear issues. Just be sure to rotate often.

In stock form, I'd say any 2nd and 3rd gen up through 08-09 are more prone to DW.

However, any truck that's been lifted, or has any worn parts, or crap bubba tires is susceptible to DW.

I started seeing it at around 60K on my 04.5 2500 4x4 running BFG (hate those tires now) and when tires didn't fix it entirely, installed the 09 steering kit to change over form Y to T linkages.

There's loads of DW threads all over the intarwebz claiming all kinds of fixes, so YMMV.

I only bought a 2020 and joined HDRams to avoid all the DW threads. ;) j/k

I have a 95 2500 and it was considered salvaged when I bought it cuz of the death wobble we replaced the Trac bar and the steering box the control arms and the brake rotors and the DW is gone for now I hope forever but only time will tell.
