Last night and this morning I have been inundated with numerous emails and text messages regarding the purchase and new ownership of my truck. That is great and all, but I haven't signed for or picked up my truck yet. I was pushing to October for a couple of reasons, one being the possibility of increased rebates (thankful for that since it increased but how will it affect my eligibility). In short sight this isn't that big of a deal. The dealership decided they needed to register my purchase in order to meet a higher bonus threshold from FCA for the month and/or quarter. I get the desire to do that, but what are my consequences of that decision? My Sirius complimentary subscription has been activated along with Guardian, so for starters I lose a few days of use on those. I have to assume my factory warranty has started at the incorrect date with the incorrect mileage. Again, in the grand scheme it probably won't make a difference, but I still find it bothersome. If they really wanted to sell the truck in September should they not have called to make me an offer I wouldn't refuse? For the record I had already considered this ahead of time and the wife and I decided $1500 off our negotiated amount would suffice (as I was anticipating rebates would jump to $1000 in October). Don't get me wrong, I appreciate not getting called daily to inquire about moving up our delivery date, but if they really needed the sale all they had to do was come to me with an offer. I've been in the end of month scenario before as both parties, and this was not the way it should have gone down. At minimum they could've asked if I was okay with it. I probably would have even said yes because none of it really matters to me (but how would they know without asking?).

I guess I could make it cost them a few bucks by remote starting the truck every 30 minutes via the app to drain the tank I was told they have already filled. Best case it cost them $75 to go fill back up prior to delivery. :D

I can see your point and also see it as crappy on their part. Sorry for my understanding though, is this a truck you ordered or verbally purchased off the lot? Did you put anything down for them to hold it for you? How did they have all your info otherwise. How long has the truck been ready or held for you? I put 500 down on my on the lot truck over the phone because I could not get to the dealer until the following week due to work. This allowed them to process it in August since it would be September before I got there. The good news for me is I didn’t have to worry about them selling the truck to someone else. My warranty and such didn’t start until I signed the papers and took ownership though

I ordered the truck from them. It was marked as a sold at time of order with my name on it. For whatever reason they didn't ask me for money down at the time of the order (or any proof of my ability to pay for it for that matter). The truck has been there since 9/21 with notification (to me) occurring on the afternoon of the 24th. I popped out and tentatively scheduled a day to pick it up this week at that time. Like I said in the post, it really doesn't matter in the end for me. I will blow through the warranty long before the time expiration on it. I just don't care for deception or dishonesty (even if it isn't directly aimed at me). I shot them straight from the get go. A courtesy call would've been appreciated.

Just a heads up...the factory warranty is based on date of manufacture, not date of sale. I’ve heard of plenty of cases where the manufacturers end up making right in the end, but it’s not guaranteed.

That is incorrect. The warranty begins on the date it is warranty registered. The manufacturer counts the date of sale typically as the date of warranty registration.

I had a slippery dealer try to spin a month end sale on me. Like you, I would have been ok with an honest offer up front - but they spun numbers, told a bunch of BS stories, tried to force a truck on the lot to me. They acted like they were doing me a favour to sell me a truck.
I walked out.
Had to drive 2 hours to the next dealership. They gave me exactly what I wanted (special order) and we agreed on a straight forward deal. Whole different experience. They are all in the same game - some are just sleazier than others. And some are sleazy and stupid.

I picked up the truck last night. It actually went pretty well. They were certainly a little unorganized, but they got it together pretty quickly for a dealership. As I had thought they did warranty register the truck on 9/30. The sales manager was upfront about it and apologetic that the original sales manager didn't have anyone reach out to inform me they were doing that. I did have to point out that rebates had increased and I qualify for the loyalty rebate, which would have cost someone who was unaware of current rebates an extra $1500. I think a lot of it was the case of circumstance. Our deal did change hands a number of times. Originally we had an Internet Salesman and the GSM working on the deal. Then the salesman either left or got fired after we'd ordered the truck. Our new salesman is a great dude, but it was dropped in his lap last minute. The GSM and Finance Manager that did our paperwork were both gone for the day when we showed up leaving it on other's plates to deal with. The finance manager that ended up piecing everything together properly for us also made up for it by selling us an extended warranty (B2B) for 5yr/100k mi at just under $1800. I used to do that job for a living and can confirm that to be about half of what most dealers sell those for. All in all it was still a good experience. We might have started off rocky, but the team we ended up working with last night was top notch. Final numbers on the purchase are below.

MSRP: $79,840
Negotiated Price: $71,000
Rebates: $3,500
Final Price before gov't theft: $67,500

Good-salesman/Bad-salesman. I run into it all the time when I buy vehicles. The first (bad) guy pushes you to your limit and then the second (good) guy comes in and you're just so happy to have someone listen. Car dealer version of good-cop/bad-cop.

No, this was truly a case of whose night it was to work. Trust me, I used to manage a dealership myself. I understand all the "tricks" played by salespeople and managers alike. Sometimes it is a series of unconnected dominoes that fall.
