I just wanted to share my experience this past weekend putting my 2500 gasser payload to the test.

I started a new project around the house. Putting in retaining wall and using Allen block. Went to the local builder supply and loaded up! According to Allanblock, the main blocks are 75lb a peice (30ct). The caps if memory serves me correct are around 50lbs (10ct) and the corner block 55lbs (6ct.)

So my load I estimate was a little over 3000lbs not including myself, skid, etc..

The truck handled the load pretty good but the height of the load made the truck wiggle a bit going down the road. I don't know if the wooden skid it was on was flexing and causing a bit of wobble or the height or both.

Suspension was about and inch off the bump stops.
My rated payload on my door is 2937 which I exceed based on my calculations. My trip was short, only a few miles.

I wouldn't want to go far with the load but I think if it was loaded a little better it would improve the experience.

Might just be the way the pic was taken, but it does look like the COG of the load is slightly behind the axle? This may have attributed to some of the wiggle.

I hauled several of those landscape block pallets, one at a time of course, on my 04 2500 CTD. Factory payload around 1700. That said, I did have Firestone 5K air bags on it @ 90PSI. Blocks were 78lbs each.

I'd maybe show the curved part of the backyard wall, but could not in good conscious show the "straight" part. LOL. I guess I thought I didn't need to pull a string to keep it straight and true.

Lol.. oh it's been super fun in this heat. I'm taking my time spending a couple hours after work. Between my multiple sized levels and squares it's about as good as it's going to get.

Once it's all done and filled I'll have a level area to bring my deck steps down to.

Very nice. Since we have completely derailed the thread, I need the specs on those black railings too lol. In the final stages of planning a decent size deck and patio area and that’s what I’m looking for.

Aria Railing that you can find at Home Depot.

Aria Railing that you can find at Home Depot. Definitely not the cheapest option out there but very little maintenance required to keep them looking good. Just a good wipe down with a rag will keep them clean. They do seem to be a favorite target for birds.. lol

If they set the pallet on the tailgate to reposition the forks you likely have some dents facing out from the internal supports, happened to my truck with a pallet of concrete.

I wonder what’s inside the tailgate that causes the outward facing divots is it the bracing or has something gotten inside the tailgate like gravel?

It has to be bracing. I have a friend that unhooked a gooseneck trailer and then closed the tailgate out of habit before trying to drive away and that truck now has outward divots on it and that truck has never hauled anything like gravel in the bed.
