Sirius Radio Signal Trash

Along with poor FM reception my Sirius/Xm is the ****s too. I called Sirius a week ago and the agent said she would escalate my case. I never heard back from them.
I may be wrong but from years back when Sirius and XM were separate companies Sirius bought out the competition, XM.
Back then I was told that XM Satellites were lower on the horizon than the Sirius satellites and as such would experience signal issues more so than Sirius in the same locations.
So what I understood is XM works fine in wide open spaces but Sirius is better in the mountains or where trees line the roadways.
I asked the Sirius agent on the phone about it but she had no idea of what I was talking about.

We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing this concern. If you would like any additional assistance, our team is always available via private message!

I've had Sirius and later SiriusXM in my vehicles since I hung the first one off the windshield in 2004. Around a dozen vehicles, from car kits to modules for satellite ready stereos to integrated OEM radios including in the 2019 Ram 1500 I just traded in. The radio drops in my 2020 2500 are noticeably frequent.

When I called Sirius/XM the agent told me that my Satellite Radio in my 2019 2500 was the XM receiver. I know their satellites are lower in the atmosphere than Sirius satellites so that is most of my problem with cutting in and out. Sirius/XM should give permission to the US Military to practice space warfare and shoot all the XM Sats down.

I have both a 2020 Ram 3500 Limited and a 2020 Ram 5500 Limited trucks. The Sirius signal in the Ram 3500 is absolutely horrible!!! I do not think I have been able to listen to a entire whole song yet, without Sirius loosing the signal or making popping and cracking sounds. Now the 2020 Ram 5500 is completely different. I think it has only lost the Sirius signal maybe a couple times. I have had both of the trucks the same amount of time and I drive the same areas in WV with both of the trucks during the same types of weather. The 2020 Ram 3500 definitely has something completely different about the reception for the Sirius system. I would think it is a software problem, because the truck are basically identical. They were both built on the same line on the very same day. I agree Sirius in my Ram 3500 is very annoying and painful to listen too!!! I hope Ram Cares is listening and issues some type of Recall or Update to Sirius.

Can you call Sirius/XM and ask them what radio receiver each vehicle has? It will be either an XM or a Sirius.

It might be worth examing the part number from the two models and see what differences there are. Having owned factory XM and Sirius units, along with modules and radios installed afterwards there is no denying the satellite service in my 2019 3500 is the worst of any I have ever owned in over 15+ years.

I have a 2019 3500 with the 12' screen. I took the truck to the dealer. They had it for a week troubleshooting the radio. Now they say they will order a new radio. ETA is February 2021???? What is wrong with these radios?

I bet that won't fix it, pretty sure the factory antenna sucks. Im planning on getting a high gain sxm antenna and mounting it on the dash to see if that fixes it.

My 19' Rubicon is the same way, its just a jeep and ram thing. Apple Car play and stream your favorite music!

Mine 19 2500 with the 8.4 is pretty good just as good as any other vehicle i have had, even 3 hrs in the bush down logging roads it works great

Just because it is a "Jeep/Ram" thing, doesn't excuse the poor reception. Especially when most of the other manufacturers have figured it out, and one is paying for it. My cheap 15 year old XM receiver/antenna on my bike does a better job.

No kidding, but we all know there's nothing we can do!
