Hey, on my 1500 limited, when you opened the tailgate, the bed lights came on (always). On my 2500 Limited they don't come on unless you open the door (?) and then they time out. I poked around in the settings menu and couldn't find anything that would change them. Is there something I can do? TIA

Nothing you can do for that. The 1500s have a tailgate ajar circuit built into one of the tailgate release latches, which is how the bcm determines to turn on the bed lights. The HD Rams do not have the tailgate ajar circuit on their latches.

That stinks. As advanced as things are on our trucks, this is what appears to be one of the basic things that would only make sense, especially when we pony up for the bed utility group.

Jimmy, we need to move you into design. Just don't leave us.

No stinking switches man.....automatic!

There is a switch in the bed to turn them off and on. ;)
Just saying.
Is there on the RamBox equipped models? The manual specifically calls out the location on non RamBox models but nothing about those with RamBox.

Mine does. On the left side if your looking into the bed. I added some LED strip lights across the top of the bed walls on both sided hooked into the stock switch as the stock lights are lacking.

Cool that is good to know. I wonder why they left that out of the manual.

Which stock switch did you tie into? I was thinking about hooking into the cargo lamp switch but I don't know if there is an easier option that's by the end of the bed. I have a tradesman with no factory bed light.

I pulled the stock lights out and tapped into the hot wire so they operate with the stock switch in the bed.

Where did you tap at? At the 3rd brake light or in the rear drivers door jam? I was hoping there was termination near the tailgate but if not I can make it work.

Oh, sorry. I pulled the stock Bed lights out back by the tailgate and tapped into their hot wires.

Nice! I like the added lights and will do the same. What did you go with?

And do you have a Knucklehead? I've got a '51 Pan  Always wanted a Knuck!
