Side to Side Rocking

I know guys that have gotten 60-70K out of basic Fox 2.0s and have seen Fox/King 2.5s dead and needing a rebuild in under 15K. It really depends on how you use and abuse the vehicle/suspension. I've had 4600/5100's (same valving) last many many thousands of miles on setups that were 95% highway commuting and I've killed them very quickly having fun while waiting for bigger/badder shocks to arrive. Everything suspension related is about compromise. A shock that more readily cycles (softer progressive or even certain linear valving configurations) will wear the seals out alot faster than a shock that isn't cycling as much. Spring rates will also have alot to do with it as well - running Bill's on a relatively stiff spring I've had them hold up to a bit of abuse, but you swap to a softer spring rate that will more readily travel and they'll start wearing out much faster if they're being forced to cycle more.

Shocks aren't going to help at all with the side to side rocking issue you're complaining about. That's entirely front swaybar.

That’s why I unhooked the factory sway bar.

However, my worn factory shocks may color my results of my unhooked factory sway bar.

My next step is a set of shocks.

Who did the rebuilding and what did it cost?

A place in town that specializes in Raptors and is associated with the Shelby facility here..right across the street and they do a lot of work for Shelby, in fact.
Mine were coil over in the front and reservoir in the back, >$1200 including labor every go around IIRC. Beat the alternative of sending them to Fox and having the truck down for weeks.

How long does it take?

I'm about to order a Thuren front sway bar.

I'm curious, multiple people have suggested the Thuren is the best, most effective fix for the side to side sway, reading this thread and several others. So why would you do shocks before the sway? I'm not sold on stock shocks being shot at 68,000 miles unless you are doing some offroad in it.

I rebuilt my King 2.5 remote resi shocks at home on my garage. Got a rebuild kit from filthy motorsports along with the oil. About $150 if I remember right. Had the shocks charged at a local off road shop that had the setup to do it. About $100.
Easy job to do.

Just installed a Thuren sway bar yesterday. Driving today it’s cut down on the rocking side to side from slow uneven bumps like my driveway. Hit a pothole today and could feel the axle free to move and absorb it better verse transferring a lot to the opposite side.

Is your Ram lifted or on the stock springs?

How much is the rear rocking that may cause the front to sway?

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns
I got to wondering that very thing. In the one spot that we always go through that causes the side way rocking.

I stopped as soon as it happened and looked at where the rear axle was and it had not started into the rut yet, so in this one case I don’t think the rear is causing it.

I had the same issue, it ended up being the rear axle track bar... switched it out.

lifted. Doesn't matter for the rocking. It's a well documented issue with Ram. Look up all sorts of videos on how a rear track bar will reduce the rocking.
In no effort to nit: Do you mean Rear Anti-Sway bar no?
