I have a 21 mega cab 2500. 50,000 miles OEM shocks are shot. What would you put on there? I do not off-road jump or race it is not lifted. I drive pavement, potholes and gravel. Thank you in advance for your tips.

I would look at bilstein shocks. If you’re keeping your truck stock suspension. I would stay away from fox 2.0 for the moment, I've heard a lot of people blowing them out after very low miles. I had 2 blow within the first 1000miles.
Could you elaborate on “a lot of people” and “blow”? How did they blow? How many is a lot of people? Where did you hear of this?

Fox 2.0s are easily serviceable, one of the benefits of running this type. They also have a warranty.

I had a factory rear shock that leaked out by 2000 miles and I’ve been running my Fox 2.0s since then, over 25,000 miles.

I don't know the actual number but a quite a few people on Facebook groups. My buddy has a shop local and he sends back quite a few lately. factory shocks suck an i would expect that from them as for Fox warranty, The seal is considered a wear item and is not covered under any warranty. This is actually stated on their warranty section, I am not saying Fox shocks are garbage but just like anything else right now the supply chain being broken is causing havoc on certain parts. Just remember mine blew about 1000k miles and it didn't see anything off pavement at that time.

Thanks for the tips everyone appreciate it

A million miles is good life (;

But I’ll ask my brother if they had a bad batch of seals or something. If they identified a bad batch I’m sure they would take care of it.

For the Fox shocks,

Why does Carli state (rears): NOT Compatible with Auto-Leveling Air Rear Suspension

Then Thuren states (fronts): Fit & Function with Thuren Front Coils only!

FWIW, I put Bilstein 5100 on my truck and I'm not sure I like the firm ride. I'm sure they will be best/better when my 5th is hooked and being towed. Maybe they'll settle in a bit after more miles.

They are custom valving from thuren tuned to their spring rate. Carli probably states that as the rear air suspension raises and lowers out of the shock spec?

Does your brother work for fox racing? I would be interested to see if there has been a supply issue. I am just giving info of personal experience and observations.

I've had the Fox 2.0 from Thuren on for 12K miles now, truck rides and tows great. No issues at all.

Put Bilstein 5100s on my 2500... much nicer than OEM.
Is your truck stock height and if it is what part number 5100s did you use?

Bilstein doesn’t show a 5100 for stock height 2500s.

4600 for stock . Performance is the same . Real Truck had about the best price I could find . $ 89 each for 51 or 46 . They also sold Fox and I think Rancho .

So when I asked the same question, below is the response I was provided:

So the 5100 will fit. We have compared them to 4600 with are OE replacements and this is what we get:

Bilstein 4600 Front
2 x 24-302074 - Extended Length: 21.45" - Collapsed Length 14.65"

Bilstein 5100 Front
2 x 24-268639 - Extended Length: 22.63" - Collapsed Length 15.03"

The compressed side is a little north of 0.25" and the extended is about a 1.25" difference. Your compressed side is what matters the most and the difference is marginally different which should be perfectly fine.

Additionally, they stated 4600s were simply just better made OEM shocks, changing to them would provide no difference.
Every person who as written to Bilstein has gotten the same reply in that the 5100s do not work with a non-lifted truck.

So far, I like the ride, OEM would bottom out and wallow all over the place... these make the truck feel more planted.

This is the set I ordered from them

In regards to Thuren I believe it is due to them having them valved to match their springs.

As to Carli can't say.
