Has anybody had any problem with this u connect feature. I've on my been able to get out to work twice out of a dozen times or so. Obviously I know that you need your blue tooth on with a fairly decent WiFi signal. What is everyone's procedure for getting it to work. I'm on an android device.
1: go to Google maps and type in my coordinates and wait for it to route the coarse
2: go to to rt corner where all options are snd select share
3: when I select share it brings up available options, wich I chose my uconnect app
4: uconnect pulls up and goes to send & go blue screen with a steering wheel
5: this is where it always screws up. If the steering wheel stays on, it's all good. I can press the steering wheel icon and it will show that it sent the coordinates and recieved coordinates. 90% of the time the steering wheel icon goes out after a second or two and nothing will happen.
I love the feature when it works because as you know when you get in your truck and physically type it into u connect a bunch will show up and you don't know wich one to click on. Normally the closest one is first but when your traveling across country, its not the closer one that you want.
Amy ideas our methods of improvement or is it just a weak WiFi signal. Speculative

Didn't even know you could use Google maps. I always search it in the uConnect app's map and send it from there.

so how do you do it from the u connect app. I'm on it now and can't seam to figure out where to type in a destination, what's your procedure.

so, I just figured out how to send a location from the u connect app to the u connect and it sent and recieved really well, but I didn't get to map out my coarse on how I wanted to go

Click on 'Location' at the bottom of the app and it should bring up a map that you can search within

I did that, and it sent and recieved, but it only sent the location, never did plot the coarse or show me the route do I could choose alt routes

So I went out to the truck to see how it had sent from the uconnect app and it was exactly how I had anticipated. It just sent the location with out a route. Now I obviously was able to go in and set way points and pick from 3 different alternate routes based on long, short, and eco, but again, that's the last thing I want to do when I get in the truck to start a rd trip is to chart my coarse when I should be able to do all this ahead of time, then send or share my coarse with uconnect

Any ideas or methods of improvement?

Yeah, just use Google Maps on your phone with Android Auto, bam no hassle.

Ok so you got me know. Can you lay out your procedures. Do you do it through Google maps or on the android auto app

I do everything on my phone for quick stuff and use google maps (my maps/saved maps features) on the computer to plan out a route with multiple stops when time permits. I can bring up any of those saved maps and display them on the phone/AA. Send them to my wife for her phone or tablet, etc.

I really could care less if the truck has NAV, it sucks, you can't do in motion navigation, and I don't use it.

Hey FCA, can you take the NAV out of my Uconnect and give me useful camera options and health monitoring?

When it works, it's great . That's why I'm wondering if my issue is a connectivity issue being out west were coverage isn't as good.

Same here...I forget the truck even has nav. the android auto/apple carplay solutions are so much easier.

I use Apple, not Android, but I'd assume they're similar, but to use CarPlay, I just plug my phone into one of the ports under the radio, unlock my phone and it projects to the screen.

Same.

I typically don't plug in if I'm just running around and don't need the maps.

The new Uconnect5 will have wireless screen projection... Many aftermarket systems already do this.

Baked in NAV is crap...never use it...I just wanted the 12" screen

As @geektoad stated, if you have AA or CarPlay and the phone sync'd to the truck, just plug it into USB port 1 and launch.

You can add multiple stops along the way on the fly, but a point to remember, Google Maps gets you from Point A to Point B quickly...
If you want to intentionally take slower or 'weird' routes (like when I go out riding on the weekend) then you need to create a custom map

This site give a good explanation on how to do it : Send a Custom Route on Google Maps to Your Phone

So android auto is good if you want your device plugged in and you just need it for your route and your wife isn't playing cookie jam the whole trip. I prefer to plan out my trip In goggle maps then go to share and click on the u connect option so it sends and receives the planned route but for some reason 80% off the time it won't go through to u connect on the send and recieved pg and I'm just wondering if it's caused by inadequate signal or another issue.
Good info though on the Google my maps app. I'm gonna check that out.

Thanks for posting the link. My Maps is what I was referring to earlier. I have tons of saved maps from work trips, etc. I use to put in all my POI (airport, rental car, hotel, client location, etc.) I've also used it to detail campground spots with notes, etc. Locally, we've even used it for a "where have you seen so and so's truck" public map or where to shoot forest/BLM/state lands locations, etc. LOL.

Apparently I need some training on the goggle my maps app because I've been on it and i can't figure it out. Probably just cuz I'm old. Always tell the wife, just give it to some young kid, they will figure it out in no time flat.
