Scratches on Windshield

had my grandkids help wash the bugs off windshield. Little did I know they were using scotch Brite pad. Now I have scratches. Is the the coating? I tried a different cleaner to no avail. Would appreciate some guidance

Perhaps a buffing compound would work but unlikely

There is windshield-specific or glass-specific compound, but better know what you're doing. You don't want to create too much heat, it'll ruin the plastic layer of the glass.

Carpro Ceriglass with rayon pads might work. It's a ton of work though. I did my windshield this week. 2 hours and it was a slight difference.

Call a glass company. I swear I remember taking rigs to safelite for windshield scratch repair back in my dealership days. Insurance might help too. My jeep has a $100 deductible, new windshield goes in it tomorrow!
