I'm looking at '21 models on Autotrader. It looks like Ram took a lot of the good stuff out of the safety group.

For example:

Safety Group $1,590 Full–Speed Forward–Collision Warning Plus Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop

https://www.ramtrucks.com/hostd/win...6B9ZfNx9_hoC578QAvD_BwE&vin=3C6UR5FLXMG579741

vs.

Safety Group $1,590 Digital Rearview Mirror Lane–Keep Assist Full–Speed Forward–Collision Warning Plus Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop Adaptive Steering System

Right now it seems like the Ram website builds are configured to reflect the shortage of some processing chips. Rather than have it take 5 months to build with them, they’re simplifying options to make faster builds. Best bet would be to contact dealership to see what they can get; the ram build site has gone wonky with some of the safety/tech packages and might not be 100% accurate. In my case I ordered the safety package with blind spot, but ultimately that was pulled out as a separate invoiced item in case they had to build without it. If the safety features are super important to you, might be worth waiting until chip shortage gets sorted out. I’m noticing that many builds listed as in transit on dealer sites are without some of these features.

Not having the adaptive steering would suck. I love that feature. My steering is lighter at crawl than my wife's Traverse. Were talking about the difference between a 5,000lb IFS crossover and a 8,000lb straight axle HD pickup. Should be the other way around. Her's has fully electric steering BTW.

Cool stuff. Would also be a deal breaker if they took the 7" configurable gauge screen out (unless you already get it because higher trim or other package. My Big Horn has it because Safety Group.)

Adaptive CC with stop and go is great though. Our Pacifica has it, the ram has the stop function but makes you take over in bumper to bumper.

Put the VIN numbers in at the link below and you'll get the full build sheet, not just the window sticker. In looking through with the VIN for that first truck, you'll see that the digital mirror is still in the build, even though it's not on the window sticker.

The other way to tell is that those two trucks have Safety Group, Towing Tech Group, Level 1 and Level 2 equipment groups, not Safety Group B, Towing Tech Group B, Level A and Level B. Those are the trim packages with the reduced content due to chip shortage. You can also see in both of them that Blind Spot is still included. That is the major option that has been removed from those groups.

I never thought to pull up the build sheet. Thanks!

thanks. When you say "those groups", do you mean the new packages that were started up because of the chip shortage? specifically, those with B on them?

i note on my new build that Blind Spot is still in (build and window sticker pulled yesterday and it is still mentioned on both), but the auto dimming rear view mirror seems to be missing. My order was placed January 15 and truck was built Monday and Tuesday this week.

Yes, I mean those option packages. Blind Spot Monitoring is available in a few different option packages and it was removed from them. According to the link below, your order was placed before the cutoff for the package change.

Worth pointing out that 'the note to dealers stated that Limited Longhorn, Limited, Ram 1500 TRX, and Ram 2500 Power Wagon packages will remain unchanged for the time being.' So a lot of this is highly dependent on trim levels too.

They are allocating supply to where they make the most profit. Plant shutdowns are following the same pattern.
