Safe top speed in 4 wheel drive?

I don’t really think there’s a speed limit when using 4Hi. As long as you feel comfortable use it with common sense. I’ve never engaged it over 55 but I’ve went faster than that using it.
Look at all the guys drag racing and doing 4wd launches. The driveline are tough and designed to handle the power of the truck. Just use your head!
As far as 4Low I use it when backing a trailer in slick conditions or up/down hill or when you are going off-road at slow speeds. As far as top speed for 4Low I’d say rpm would be your limiting factor.

The TRX has a special Full time 4 wheel drive system similar to AWD which is why it can do that. The 4 wheel drive of the HD trucks can not do that. I only use 4 Hi in situations that I need traction, like snow. The biggest concern is that the front wheels are locked in 4 wheel drive. So when you turn the tires need to be able to slip some because they are both turning at the same speed, otherwise you get front end jump. As stated elsewhere, the strain on the front end if it can not slip will eventually cause drivetrain damage.

The 4wd will be fine. They are meant to be used.

In both of these the trucks are off road. That gives them the slippage needed to be in 4 wheel drive. And you can jump any vehicle, but see how long they last. Their suspensions are not designed for it like the TRX or Raptor are. Remember, just because you can do something does not mean you should. But hey, your money your truck. Drive it as you want.

RAM ran those Powerwagons right along with the TRX during testing.

My point was...you will not hurt your 4wd by using it when you feel uncomfortable. Use your 4wd and be safe.

The other was in terms of the TRX having a special transfer case for jumps. It is special for a whole lot more reasons than jumping.

I really feel the need to give up with this site.

Good times.
