Was installing dash cam/ radar wiring and found something that made me .

Cab light hole looks like it was cut by a drunk and it’s already rusting

I guess I’m going to have to pull all the lights and POR plus reseal.

EDIT: From the looks of it, the roof was replaced at one point. A new one was glued on and the holes were cut by hand. I ended up fixing it with POR15.

I had to replace a bulb out on a 2011 today, this is what it looks like. I wonder if yours were added after the fact? Did you buy your truck used?

4th gens are different from the 2019+.

2019+ use square holes with LED lights.

I bought the truck used, however, the lights are factory installed. It’s on the window sticker.

Those holes do not looked stamped or punch-cut. Also, it looks like the rough edges were sanded/ground smooth. There are trucks that are delivered with missing options on occasion. Maybe the lights were added after production because they were missed?

The front edge of the square hole is painted and looks stamped. I believe it was just stamped too small during production.

EDIT: Pulled a lamp and holes were added the the roof was painted. However roof does not look REpainted… matches rest of truck and no rough edges.

My roof rubber edge strips are reversed, but I’m seen this on some other trucks…

Opened sunroof, and yep, roof has factory paint. Also, I can see smooth paint to the windshield primer. So no evidence of repainting.

Looks like it was added by hand right before cab was painted.

FWIW, my truck was built 7-2019. Maybe someone else with a 7-2019 build can check theirs?

Here's what the factory holes look like. The PDR guy is fixing the front of my roof from the windshield to just past the clearance lights. Gonna leave the rest because I can't see it and if it's not gonna be perfect, might as will save some money. He said the roof metal was stretched/warped or something like that.

Those holes were definitely cut after the fact. The abrasion on the inside black coating shows that they were cut with a handheld tool, and you can see the end of the blade travel on the top right corner of the hole in the pic from above.

He posted on CF the roof was replaced at some point and there is no roof skin that can be ordered with the holes apparently

That explains it
