Ok, I love my truck, but, ride is harsh (yeah, I know it's a 2500 and not a 1500), so am changing my tires from the Firestonesp Transforce to Cooper AT3's and stock shocks to Fox IFP's........probably won't do both at same time ($$$).
Do you guys think this combination will give me a noticable overall change and also, thinking of doing shocks first......thoughts?
Thanks all

I’d mess with your tire pressure before you spend that kind of money. Lots of guys run lower tire pressures when not towing.

My 2020 mega cab has the oem 20” wheels and Firestone tires and I have them filled to 60 psi. I think my mega cab rides comparable to my 2019 f150 I drive for work.

Drop the air to 60 the tires wont do much for you as they are still a 10 ply... shocks will help i dont find my 2500 rides bad at all it has the offroad pkg with better shocks from oem the bilstiens are a great shock...we have some of the worst roads from major frost heaves and a city that does not like to fix the roads lol

Hey H3, they are 60 now, I've read on the sight that the stock shocks are pretty bad....I don't have an issue with the Firestones, I know stock shocks aren't the best.....Bilstiens huh?....hmmmm.

I’m happy with my bilsteins on my 3500. They helped a little bit, but getting bigger tires and dropping the pressure helped the most.

I'm running the AT3 XLTs in a metric 35" on 18s. The ride might have gotten incrementally better with a lil more sidewall but not equal to the cost associated. The TFs were a dog poo tire and I'm very pleased with the tires performance after a year FWIW.

I agree with lowering the air pressure. But you should change out the Firestone Transjucks regardless. The Cooper is a good tire from everything I have read. Hopefully Goodyear does not screw that up now that they have purchased Cooper.

I would hold off on the shocks and just go with tires like suggested. You are not going to see a big difference just changing out the shocks unless your stock units are worn out.

all the research and conversations I've had with different shops point towards new springs up front, shocks at all 4 corners, and a thuren/carli sway bar up front as being the best "budget" comfort work you can do to the truck, in terms of suspension. The other piece of that would obviously be tires with more sidewall as others have suggested. My intention is to get the 0.5" Thuren coils, Thuren sway bar, and fox IFPs on the truck and then at some point move to 35s or metric equivalent to 34s. I have a long highway commute with lots of terrible expansion joints and while I don't have the truck yet, I know for a fact that its going to be rough.

I read—I think on the Thruen site but will double check—that it’s recommended to try 20 pounds less in rear if no payload. So try 60 or 55 upfront and 35 in the rear and report back. I’ll look for site. Was a reputable source.

Switching out your tires from the crappy stock tires is a good idea. They really are some of the worst tires.

You may also want to look at the load rating for the new tires. I just upgraded to 37 inch tires that are D rated and they have a much better load rating then my Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.50 E rated.

Big upgrade in ride quality and ride much smoother.

Am I the only one...."......when I drive a HD truck, I don’t expect it to ride like a Rolls Royce, or even a Cadillac. Regardless, the HD trucks of today ride much better than the trucks from years ago.

Definitely not. I agree completely with what you're saying, BUT if I can throw about a grand at it to make it better, then why wouldn't I do that, as long as its within my means to do so?

I agree. I think my HD truck drive great!
What people fail to realize when they complain about ride quality and modify it to ride "better" they are often changing (lowering) the towing stability and payload capacity that they bought a HD truck for in the first place?

What if some people don't "fail" to realize it and make the change knowing the effects? Or, get a kit that maintains the rear suspension completely stock and makes minimal changes to the front for their desired purpose?

not trying to be argumentative, just invite discussion.

Because most people do "fail". They have no idea what they are doing they just want a softer ride not realizing the implications of what they have done.
