Hi, I'm getting conflicting info regarding the RF Lockdown and what it can prevent. Can a thief still use the OBD2 port to do thief stuff and steal the truck? I have my keys in a faraday bag. Looking into other security measures as well. Is the OBD port still a vulnerability? Thanks in advance

No help with your question so my apologies there.

I appreciate everyone’s efforts in securing their vehicles. I live in the country, lock the doors(never used to…) and use a cple Blink cameras around the property. How far are you willing to go with securing something that they will damage if they think they have a chance? You can do all you want but if they want it and think they can get it….they will do what they need to. If not they may just burn it. Make sure your insurance policy is a good one and rest easy.

Before I reply, does anyone have the answer to the RF Lockdown question?

Hmm, That seems like a defeatist attitude from someone who never had a car stolen. I live in a populated area where it is far more common, easy to have that mindset when your neighbor lives 1 mile marker down the dirt road. Yes, if they want it there will always be a way. You can't control mayhem from a vindictive thief who burns your car, that's rare. I'd rather pay a $500 deductible to fix some damage vs get 1/2 the value of the cost of a new vehicle. Been thru both scenarios and if it's a car you really like, stolen is far worse. Your cameras are useless and are just a record of the event for posterity. There is no venom in my response, which I know doesn't translate over text.

Can you explain more about the RF lockdown? Never heard of it, but it sounds like the Kia crowd could really use it. Not being a smart ass. I’m genuinely interested.

The Ram/Dodge RF (Radio Frequency) Hub Lockdown is
a security software update designed to prevent theft by locking the RF module, which stops thieves from programming new key fobs to the vehicle. While it enhances security against key cloning, it prevents adding new keys and requires replacing the entire RF hub if all current keys are lost.

Interesting. Is this only on new models(‘25+) or for 19+ ? Sounds like something that could/should be done to all available models but we know how that stuff can go.

Please update your findings and good luck.

Mine is a 21. Not sure how far back it goes. It should be free but dealers don't see it that way. Runs about $250 in my neck of the woods
