Has anyone gone through a winter with one of their covers? Wondering how the snow and ice affect it's operation.

I had one on my 2018 Power Wagon. Snow was no issue. Once the snow melted and refroze it pretty much didn't move.

I have gone through about 14 winters with Retrax covers. In snow you obviously need to brush the snow off before opening. I have not had a problem opening as long as the snow is off. I have had 1 or 2 times over the years of not being able to open the cover with heavy ice. And of course I did not have any de-icer spray readily available. I have had water inside the bed very few times. Most of these times were because we knocked the drain tube out or off - usually when loading something into the bed. I had water one other time during a very windy rain storm. It resulted in small wet spots on the corners by the tailgate. The wet spots were maybe 12 inches in diameter. I have never had a wet box from a car wash. Overall I am very pleased with the 2 covers I have had, and plan to put one on my new truck whenever it gets here. My main piece of advise is make sure your drain tubes are connected.

Thank you. I've always had toppers. I've got a 5th wheel hitch in my new truck, when it gets here, and don't want to have to pull the topper when I want to pull the camper.

I’ve gone through 8 years with a Retax on my former 1500. Of course, keep in mind the truck stayed in the garage and we don’t get much snow in Albuquerque! But I did drive through many storms and everything in bed was always dry. I’m planning on installing 5th wheel hitch, which probably won’t come out very often. The Retrax for me is perfect as it rolls out of the way, will keep the hitch dry and secure when not in use.

Yeah, same as most. Had one on my 1500 for 8 years and then now have one on my PW. Ice is the only problem, but if you carry some sort of deicer, you'd be good.

I have the Retrax Powertrax on my Ram. As others have said just brush off the snow. Regarding ice, thin is no problem. But every now and then you get one of those freezing rains that creates a thick coat of ice. I just bang a bit on the cover in order "crack the crust" and then it will open without problem. Hope this helps.
