New to forums,

I have a 21 Ram, 6.4. I put the direct fit magna flow on, and kept the resonator. I liked it, but ended up taking everything aft of the muffler and putting a down pipe off the muffler. I liked the sound, however the drone for me in cab was too much. Ended up putting the res back on.

Now I am thinking of cutting the res off just aft of the rear axle and possibly just adding that down pipe I have instead of running a standard loooking pipe. Will I have the same drone in cab. Only thing I am hesitant about, is once I cut res off, there is no going back unless I welded back on.

You probably will. It's the muffler.
I just cut the resi off and kept the stock muffler on mine. Added a new pipe tucked up close to the fender where it belonged. Sounds great and no drone.

Ok, so you think that I will have same issue with any drone, regardless of where the pipe comes out? I saw the thread of where you cut your resi off and plan to do the same.

Probably will. May be less noticeable if you run the pipe out from under the truck.

Yea, I just cut off the resi but kept the rest of the stock system and muffler. Then ran the pipe out the side behind the rear tire in the stock area. Just closer in and tucked up near the fender.

Thanks

Even with the resonator on, there will still be some drone. I'm running a Magnaflow muffler with resonator intact, and there's still a bit of drone around 15-1700 rpm

Which Magnaflow muffler are you running?

Did you ever try the factory muffler without the resonator?
Lots of people, like me, like the sound. And no drone.
Will that void the Warranty on the new 2025?

I am new to trucks and at the last minute switched from the 2025 Chevy 3500 HD to RAM after speaking to other Horse owners who switched to Ram from Chevy & Ford.

I just need to immediately (soon) tow a 3-Horse Trailer and a future 6-Horse/Stock Trailer.

There isn’t a resonator to delete on the 6.7 diesel you’re looking into.

Removing the resonator should have no effect on the warranty.

The 25’s are still a ways out from delivery if you need to be towing immediately.

What did that run you price wise if you don’t mind me asking?
