Replacement key fob

I purchased a used 2020 2500 diesel push to start truck a year ago; came with only one key fob. Went to our local lock smith company who had key fob in stock. Two different appointments and they are still unable to program the device. They are ordering another fob from a different supplier and will try again next week.

Checking to see if anyone has purchased an additional key fob from non-dealer vendor and/or any suggestions on another vendor for a replacement fob? (Didn’t want to pay big bucks at a dealer). I’m located in Michigan

Are you tech savvy? Key fobs can be bought and programmed at home with the right aftermarket software. It will be cheaper than paying someone to do it and you will still have the software to read codes and make dealer level changes in the end.

I saw the option in JSCAN the other day, just not sure if it works on a 4.5 gen.

Hi all, new to the forum, as I bought not only my first Ram HD, but my first new vehicle! A 2020 2500 Tradesman with the Cummins diesel, 4x4 6'4" bed, upgraded with 8.4" uconnect.....

The only option it does not have, that I truly desire, is a remote start. My truck has a push button start and keyfob.

The dealer said it would be $700 to install a remote start, my question is, to get the factory remote start; what do I need to do?

Is it just as simple as buying and programming the new keyfobs with the extra key, and then having the truck Vin coded?

I am wondering what, cheaper options...

Alfaobd can do the programming of the fob, but only if you already have the PIN, which alfaobd is not capable of retrieving on 2019-2024 HD Rams. You need to pull the PIN with some other tool, like JScan, and at that point, might as well finish doing the fob programming with that tool.

Nope. I just harassed my salesman to the point he paid to have it done.

I’ve read JSCAN can extract the pin to program new keys, but their own website also says it won’t work on most post 2008 vehicles.

I’ve also read some people have been successful using JSCAN.

Jscan can do it. i bought a fob on ebay and 5ish minutes later it works flawlessly.
