Repair Quality Reality Check

I brought my truck home Monday afternoon. Still not satisfied, but I suppose I will have to wait for it to leak, then get an estimate from another shop to fix what this one didn't, and take that to small claims court. It's been nine weeks from drop-off to pick-up, and I have work backed up, so I'm driving it for now.

The windshield and roof moldings were replaced and installed well, and the fenders were buffed out. They gave me a partial refund on the camper paint, $450, which isn't great, but is something. It does look good at curb distance. The bed and interior were both cleaned pretty well.
The interior trim damage was not corrected, and I noticed the overhead console doesn't fit snugly anymore either. Clearance lights are better than the two previous attempts, but still not satisfactory. With the overhead console out you can see how they dealt with the lamp bases in the wrong roof holes - don't look if you have a sensitive stomach.

Overhead console hangs from the two mounting screws. Both front plastic clips are broken off. The metal pieces on the male part of the rear retainers don't look bad to me, but they are nowhere close to holding the console up - is there something missing from the openings in the piece above the headliner that they clip into or are the metal pieces just mashed together?

I appreciate everyone's input, and thanks for listening to me whine and complain. If you're shopping for body shops in Brownwood, Texas, send me a message before you choose one.

What a F*ng sh*tshow. I hope somehow you are made whole again.

Those hacks should not be allowed to do bodywork.

I would be LIVID. You are totally justified with not be satisifed with their work. Just another body shop bringing down the consumer confidence in their trade.

I would be disgusted. It needs to be taken back but then that’s kind of a double edged sword, you take it back and complain to get it fixed but then its the same bunch that f’d it up to begin with so the fix may just be worse. That’s terrible. I wouldn’t be able to let it go through, file a complaint with the better business bureau, did you speak with the manager of that place and what did your insurance company say about the shoddy work?

I am thoroughly disgusted with the whole situation. I kept the insurance adjuster updated through the process. They don't seem to care one way or the other, but I figure it provides some documentation of the problems and the timeline. It is nice to hear that my experience is fairly isolated instead of the whole industry slipping to this level.

I'll amend my comment about the insurance. The adjuster called and spoke to my wife on Friday. She said she is sorry about the result, and consulted her supervisor who said there isn't anything for them to do about the repairs - it is between the vehicle owner and the repair shop.
So, I suppose a more accurate description is - cares, but isn't going to take any action.
If we end up in small claims I will ask her for a statement, and we'll see if I get one or not.

I have Geico and recently had insurance work done on my truck. When I got it back the front bumper was a bit crooked but the shop quickly fixed that.
My adjuster was engaged throughout the process. I suspect yours “paper whipped” the job. I’d consider a conversation with corporate.
I did use a shop recommended by Geico and I can’t find a single flaw anywhere.

They broke the two front clips off the console by not knowing how it came apart. 5 minutes on YouTube could have saved them. Sorry for the shoddy work. That sucks.
