Remote start added to 2020 Tradesman (SOLVED)

Use the 500 ohm setting if you straight up ground the pin 11 wire on bcm connector C1/A. Use 1k ohm setting if you are using the hood latch. Did you ground that wire, and if so, is it the correct one?
Yes. I grounded the 11 pin, the light purple w/ blue stripe wire. I tried both ohm setting. Sorry, the way I posted I thought the attachment would show.

Been watching this post, thinking about adding the remote start. Do you think it would be worth while waiting for the
Add another happy Tradesman owner with remote start and tailgate release to the list. Mopar remote $98, dealer programming of the remote ($90 unfortunately), a little time under the hood, and a little time using AlfaOBD was well worth it.

Do you happen to have the exact part number you ordered? I dont want my buddies making fun of me that my key says Limited or something else when I have a Tradesman. Assume yours just says RAM on the back. Thanks,

Just a thought... take the back off of your "tradesman" key and put it on the other 5 button if it says something other than "RAM" throw the tradesman 3 button key in a drawer as a backup...

68374994AC was what I ordered. Five button (lock, unlock, remote start, tailgate release, panic). I ordered from Mopar Wholesale Parts. They emailed me the next day and said that part number, while it still works, has been updated to 68475385AA. They updated my order to the newest part number and lowered the cost. I got them yesterday. They come with a battery installed and say RAM on the back. No writing for trim levels. They don’t come with the key that slides in, but the sliding key that came with my three button remotes fit

Is there anyone here that is in southern ca and had a dealer that had a reasonable price to program key and turn on remote start?

I had success with this today. 2021 2500 Tradesman. As stated in my previous post, I used part number 68475385AA for the key fob. I used 68362518AA for the tailgate damper. I bought the key fob from Mopar Wholesale Parts. They are local to the Phoenix area, so I was able to pick them up and not pay for shipping. I used Earnhardt Chevrolet in Gilbert to program the key fob and activate the XBM sales code. I left the dealership with remote start and the remote tailgate release as if it was installed from the factory. This includes the option to change the horn with remote start feature in the settings menu on the Uconnect screen.

The hardest part of this was getting a service advisor to understand I didn't need to buy the "kit" to activate remote start. The kit is part number 82215841. It comes with two remotes, a wired hood latch, a wire, some zip ties, and instructions. You would still need to pay a dealership to program the remotes. You would also need to pay a dealership to activate the XBM sales code if you don't plan on using AlphaOBD. I was also told it's on been on backorder for eternity. I tried to explain to several service advisors I didn't need the kit, but they wanted to argue with me instead of just taking my money and letting a technician do the work.

If you're in the Phoenix east valley area, Earnhardt Ram in Gilbert was great in getting this done. They were one of the only dealerships with a service advisor that didn't really question what I was doing. If you're in the west valley, Larry H Miller Ram Avondale seemed to understand this process. They also run Mopar Wholesale Parts. I didn't have them do the programming because I didn't want to drive an hour back for an appointment.

Good to hear. I'm at the dealer in Sierra Vista AZ now. Advisor told me as I checked in He's not sure they can do it even though when I called for the appt I was told no problem. He looked at my basic remote and I guess that have him pause. I told him it could be done. If they give me that nonsense of it not being able to be programed I'll show them this thread. Thx!

After going through two techs I'm having issues at the dealership. Telling me that they can't program the fob. The system is not liking it. Writer said tech programed the sales code. Does that even make sense since the fob isn't even programmed? This is the part number I have, 68374994AC. On Mopar parts sites says it replaces 68374994AA, 68374994AB. Could that be the issue?

That’s a good part number. Where did you get the fob- mopar parts supplier, or one of the locksmith sites?

I bought it from keyless express, virgin keys on eBay. New, took it apart and it is a Mopar part. Hope I didn't get screwed.

Did it come in a SEALED bag with mopar stickers/bar codes/part numbers?

The part number should be fine. I thought I remember people having problems with keys that were sold as new but were actually refurbished. I’m not 100% on that.

Not that I can recall. Bought it in Oct last year. Been sitting on this. Finally getting around to get it programmed.

If it came with an uncut key inserted into it, I wouldn’t trust it to be a virgin fob.

I had the same issue and sent mine back (different vendor).

As Jimmy alludes to, if it doesn't come in a sealed MOPAR bag, it's a refurb and the dealer being able to program it are hit or miss and you're going to be stuck with a useless FOB and dealer charge.

Yep. I'm gonna call this one a loss. I'll source another from a mopar site. I'll see if I can return it...doubt it. Only thing I got outta this is leaving with a CEL on. Haha. Brought it right back. Genetic code and they cleared it. Thanks for the help all. I'll be back!

Or try to talk the dealer into a discount to purchase the key from them and have it programmed.

Given Uconnect's recurring cost, I think I'm just going to go aftermarket and forget about a 3rd key. I made it 16 and 18 years on my last two vehicles with both keys and no loss.

I asked them that. First they wanted to sell me the kit which I don't need, then when I asked about just the FOB I was quoted almost $150. I'm gonna give it another go. I just purchased one from Chrysler partsgeeks. Cheapest with shipping.
