Remote start added to 2020 Tradesman (SOLVED)

So I’m in the the install of the hood latch process. Accessing the BCM was horrible, no space and removing that amp thing looks to be a bear. My C11 had a purple with a white stripe wire in it. Thankfully I had some child labor on hand, no way my hand is fitting in there.

So I was able to conned the pin (or so I thought), got it all connected, the recommended security bypass cable in the odb port, with odblink lx, alfaodb on the pc and this isn’t very intuitive. Looks like I’m able to read the data fine but not sure how to get to settings the options?

Really wish I tried the phone version as all the screenshots I’m seeing in the forums seem to refer to it and not this.

I found the section where remote start is detected (not present of course)

I did find the configuration section on the windows version here:

Basically you need to select the “active “ tab” and select “configuration “ on the drop down, second from the bottom.

I enabled the Remote Start, the horn on remote start. However after enabling the Hood Ajar sensor I’m getting a “hood ajar” warming light .

Looking at the instructions on the hood latch I got pin 11 on the a connector so not sure what’s going on at this point. Tomorrow I’m going to shove the boy back under the dash and we’ll try again. Should have I not enabled the “hood ajar “ at connector a pin 11 ?

You’ll follow the instructions for running the switch sense wire to the BCM, and just ground the sensor ground wire to any chassis bolt close by. These are instructions for a 4th gen, so the route might be slightly different, but the BCM location and connector terminal location is the same and what matters to you. https://www.allmoparparts.com/docs/82215553.pdf

It’s all the same from 2013-2021. Keep in mind that the view in that drawing is looking at the mating side (face) of the connector. It will be opposite if you are looking at the side the wires are going into.

Thanks ! So I probably messed up whatever was in 23 then or the sensor is bad . I’ll need to put that back if it was in the wrong spot. If I knew what was in 23 I’d test that theory.

Picked up my new 2021 RAM 2500 TRADESMAN yesterday and tried to purchase the remote kit as I did not see the connector on the hood release, They told me it would not work and needed to install a after market kit. Anyone done this in the CT area?

Thanks for this. That was it. Was in pin 23. Few layers of skin later and it’s all in. Just waiting on the remote to bring to the dealership for programming.

Can anyone confirm FOBIK part number 68475385AA is equivalent to 68374994AC or that 68475385AA works on 2019 Ram 3500? If you lookup 68475385AA, it says its for a 2021 Ram 2500 application but I saw earlier in this post that it was thought these two are equivalents.

Got a price quote from the dealer I bought the truck from to program the fob...$130. I was planning on scheduling it with an oil change, still $130. Called another dealership 20 minutes south of me $50. Going there tomorrow and I’ll report back. Remote came from Carandtruckremotes.com

Well I got the remote from Carandtruckremotes.com
had it successfully programed at my local dealer for $64 (including cutting the emergency key)

Just left the dealer, the key activates the remote tailgate release and runs the truck no problem....

now for the AlfaOBD part....

can someone confirm for me I need to do the following:

• VehConfig-1 Remote Start Present - YES
• BCM, Cust.Set.Menu 1-Sound Horn with Remote Start CSM Present- YES
• CBC I/O: Connector A Pin 11: Hood Ajar Switch Input Present- YES

Never had to do that. Make all the changes. Some may take a few key cycles to show up, but typically those are only settings that show up in the radio (like the CSM settings).

I did it all, and when I double click remote start the tail lights flash, but it does not start

At the dealer now. They are saying the remote is throwing a signal but saying the radio hun isn’t programmed....

Ok success!! They needed to run the rfh replacement procedure and that worked.

what does the radio hub have to do w/ anything?

tell them don't worry about radio stuff... just program the key "so it works as a backup for you to start the truck"

That's what I did and had no issues.

You need to drive the truck once, briefly. Then remote start will work.
