Remote start added to 2020 Tradesman (SOLVED)

That is the wrong bypass for HD trucks,

You want the KAOdTECH cable.

Model BY19HD

You don't need the MX+ @$99 unless you want it to also work with Apple or have a GM or Ford. The less expensive $60 LX works.

MX+

You get to pick a license for either GM or Ford.
  • Enhanced OEM support for Ford, GM, Mazda, Nissan/Infinity, Toyota/Lexus/Scion, Honda, Hyundai, Kia

Thanks ! I swore off Fords so I’ll get the other one lol. Just need it for the Ram

If you don't have the hood latch with sensor let me know and I will ship it to you. I have two of them cause at first I went and build my own wiring and add the hood latch. Then after having problems with unlocking my dealer told me this was the problem and replaced all. But in reality it wasn't. So now I have one extra.

Much appreciated! Could you show me a pic of it please? I’m not sure if I’d recognize it if I found it. I can see the mechanical one fine but the other side might be concealing something. Just don’t want to waste your time sending it if I have it.

I have been working on getting my hood latch sensor installed on my tradesman, and I have managed to get the BCM harness out that I needed. There is an existing wire in PIN 11, and I know I need to remove it, but I am afraid to just yank on it for fear of breaking the connector and leaving it stuck in there. Are there any special tricks??

Once you slide the hood off of the connector, depress this tab on the terminal while pulling on the wire-

Ok, after looking I’m not seeing anything like #14. My pics attached for logic check. (That line from the top are my front air bag suspension).

So dumb question. I’m reading the install instructions for the remote start kit. On the first page is this line about adding the sales code via DealerCONNECT“....Obtain 4 digit temporary PIN number from authorized dealership personnel.” Since I’m going to use a bypass cable to the OBD port and use alphaOBD to enable the remote start I won’t need the pin correct?

The PIN number is for the dealership for when you have them program the fob. You can’t do that part with AlfaOBD, but you can enable the remote start settings. “Obtain PIN from authorized dealership personnel” is for the tech performing the work, because there are usually only certain people at the dealership authorized to pull vehicle’s PIN.

Great, thanks for confirming! Soon as it gets a little warmer up here I’m going to get all this done.

I purchased 68374994AB and attempted to have the dealer program it, but I was told that they were unable to program due to it being for a Big Horn and I have a 2021 tradesman. Anyone have this happen to them?

One thing to check is to make sure the fob has a battery in it. Some on here got pushback from their dealer saying the fob wouldn't program. It was because there was no battery in it. If you purchased the fob from an oem dealer, it should come with a battery already in it. If you purchased on the secondary market that sells "refurbished" fobs, chances are no battery.

Who ever you find to program your FOB be sure they cut the key too. My dealer did not. He said the Service dept usually just gets the FOB to program while the Parts dept cuts the key. They will need both FOBs.

I purchased it from CarandTruckremotes.com and I talked with them this afternoon about it and they’ve never heard of trim levels causing an issue with compatibility. It was a brand new oem fob with the battery installed so I’m assuming there is some level of incompetence there. My sales guys even told me to try another dealer. However, they did try and sell me on the remote start kit lol.
