Just purchase a 2109 Ram 2500 Laramie. Noted the remote auto start (using the fob) does not always occur, especially when the outside temp is around 40 degrees.
This has happened twice but wanted to see if others have had a similar problem.

Only when I'm jabbing the wrong button. ;) Although uncommon, new vehicles have been known to come delivered with less that pristine batteries in the FOBs. If the condition persists, I'd swap the battery in FOB for starters.

And then there were the early 4th gen 1500s...

I always thought this new fob either doesn't have the distance or can't penetrate building materials like my old fob could. I used to be able to start my 4th gen from my kitchen, but now I have to open my door and point through the storm door

I guess there's still the old chin trick. Point it towards the top of your skull from under your chin to increase range. Your head is like cerebro and the fob is like Charles xavier

I heard hit the lock button first so the system recognizes the frequency of the fob. Then hit the remote start 2x. Seems to work better on my Ram and Jk as well. But I still have to poke my head out the door at work cuz the range totally blows. Coworker has Patriot and has to do same thing.

Before I posted this message I hit the lock button and it worked. The two times that I had problems, I was pointing the fob at the truck and the horn did not "honk" after tapping the auto start 2Xs.. ... I'll try a few more times to see if I can duplicate the issue and possibly solution (hitting the lock button)

^^^This...is exactly what to do if it gives you issues. I do it now as a matter of course and it works every time.

GF's CRVs remote start requires hitting the lock button then the remote start button. Maybe Honda already knew the trick? Sure wish they had the range of an after market kit but I sure love getting into a warm rig!

Only I’ve had is when the low fuel light is on it will not start, other than that no issues. I normally use the Uconnect app since my FOB never leaves my pocket.

I’ve had an issue when pushing the start button too quickly between pushes. I now wait half a second between pushes and have not had an issue with the remote start. Dozens of other quality issues, but none with the remote start.

They do have feedback, I hear the roar of my hemi every time I remote start mine :)
Here's an update.. rather on the chilly side in the NW (low 40s) and the auto start did not start .... hit the lock button on the fob and then the auto start worked. I grew up in Northern MN, I wonder if these trucks are having a similar issue at 30 below?

27 degrees here this morning and auto-start worked just fine....thank goodness!
