Regen doesn't work?

Has anyone had the experience of a regen not clearing the DPF? I have so little trust in my dealership that I'm wondering if they are not BS'ing me for the more lucrative repair of a filter replacement.
I sold my 2019 2500 due to 3 dealerships not fixing the DPF issue under warranty ( doing a regen approx every 50 miles and killing my diesel mileage at 9mpg) and having no idea what they are doing. It all started after a ECM update was done when they fixed an oil leak on the front of the motor that required them to remove the cab.. Did 55k mikes with no issues before the ecm update.( that showed up to me ). First it was the DPF sensor that cost me $800 to get replaced. Did not fix it . Same excact ODB code back the same day. I told them I want my $800 back as it is the same code as they said will be fixed with the new sensor.

Then they tried telling me the Intercooler was cracked where the hose connects and wanted $4200 to replace it. Their exact words were " Lets start with replacing the intercooler.... not positive that will solve it." Had to say goodbye to one of my favorite trucks. Good luck.
 
Towed to the dealer on Thursday, dealer completed repairs on Friday. No parts replaced. Dealer updated the PCM and did a forced regen. When I picked it up, it was showing about 10% on the gauge. It did an auto regen, and then the gauge showed 0% during the 200 mile drive home. Seems to have fixed the problem. They said if the DPF needs replacement, part is available and should take a day or two to arrive. We shall see!

It did an auto regen, and then the gauge showed 0% during the 200 mile drive home. Seems to have fixed the problem. Nope. They weren’t able to find a tow company that would take it the distance. We only have 2 companies in our small town. Used my 200 mile AAA tow. Not sure how I can get that back since it was part of my annual plan. At least it resets in June and I’ll be ready for the next failure.
 
Did the dealer who was attempting the manual regeneration reset the regeneration timer prior to attempting the stationary desoot?

The DPF itself is almost never to blame for a clogged DPF situation. In an overwhelming majority of the times the DPF is plugged or full, there is some other issue that’s causing it. These can be bad sensors on the emission monitor equipment, or a failing or failed component on the engine side of the system.

Unfortunately, I only know what is indicated on the work order. When I got into the truck after the service, the gauge did not show zero. It was about a quarter inch up from empty. When I hit the highway, the regen noticed appeared and brought the gauge back down to zero, as it was designed to do. So far, I’ve had no further issues. I put 200 miles on the truck on the return trip, and another 150 on a trip up to a ski resort. Gauge hasn’t moved off zero. I have noticed the DEF gauge dropping normally, so something must be working. Making another 200 mile trip to Reno and back this weekend. If anything shows abnormal, I’ll let y’all know. Thanks for the info.

Glad it’s working so far. I apologize I didn’t see you posted the work order above. They did indeed reset the filter timers and then performed the stationary desoot again. Since it worked that time, then it should be cleaned out, however I would recommend monitoring it further. If you’re doing a lot of low speed, low-load driving, and not giving the system time to regenerate either passively or actively then it will continue to accumulate. However there could be other issues causing the buildup of soot as well.

They did, it’s in the completed work order. I didn’t see this the first time I read through the thread. It might not have loaded by the time I skimmed through. I thought the timer they reset was the derate timer im not quite sure
