REFERENCE: 2019+ Power Wagon Armor

(Long Overdue) Update to the original post. Added all the new Dethloff stuff, as well as some other things like the SDHQ intercooler skid, etc.
Moved Maple stuff to the bottom as "no longer available", but still there as reference. Added Godz Mfg stuff, but put it under "NLA" as well, since it sounds like they went radio silent?
Thanks for updating the thread

Let me know if there’s anything I missed, or anything else I should add.

Thx

I actually want to see the parts mounted on someones truck and the welding...not the advertising, thanks though

I can’t speak for the new ones, but I have a gen 1 Dethloff skid on my truck, and I’m a certified weld inspector, so I feel I can make a relevant response. From what I recall, the welds were very “pretty” looking and “whippy”—whipping makes the weld look good (stacked-dime-type look) but is not necessarily desirable for MIG/GMAW structural steel as they are slower than stringers and have risk of inclusions due to moving back and forth. These are pretty small welds, and they are not holding up a building, so they are fine, nothing concerning.

fwiw mine is nearly 5 years old and coating still looks great too (much better condition than the coating on my White Knuckle rock sliders which has started peeling/rusting)

Being that these are new parts and we are currently in our first full production run, aside from the several on-chassis photos on our product pages, more on-chassis photos will become available as these get on customers' trucks & are put to use.

As to weld pics, while 'internet welding inspection' is rarely fruitful, I can share some photos. The parts that we did photography with and have on hand are the full production parts, but were used to test different weld settings & positions with our fixtures, so particularly on the 3-Bar skid plate you can see differences in the welds in some of the previous pictures.

I took my first Dethloff skid to a local off road shop to have it installed since I do not have a lift. They said it was the best looking skid they had ever installed and said it was of very high quality and not a chinese type cheap skid. I have his latest 2 skids on the way and will get them installed as soon as I see them.

In case anyone missed it, Dethloff is planning to release their rock sliders soon.

From their FB post:
Something we’ve kept out of the public eye until now is our upcoming rock sliders, but with us heading to DTX and knowing that these will be very visible we figured a teaser was in order! We’ve been wheeling these HD Rams for years and have interviewed & taken input from a series of hardened users, and we all felt that there were a number of improvements that should be made to offer a better option for rock sliders; with our list of goals in mind, and with several ground-up designs, we have developed the next generation of rock sliders for these trucks. We have some VERY cool and unique features integrated in this design that we have never seen on the market. We have managed to engineer a kit that is lighter, stronger, has higher ground clearance, experiences less deformation under impact, is easier to install, more corrosion resistant, and safer/easier to get in/out of the vehicle than any other true rock slider available for these trucks. We’ll share all the details at launch, stay tuned!!!!

I just installed Dethloff’s skid plates last week and was very impressed with the quality and his customer service when I had questions during the installation.IMG_1042.jpegIMG_1037.jpegIMG_1088.jpeg

I installed my Dethloff skids this weekend. They are crazy nice. The only issue I ran into was with the three bar skid. On my truck (24 tradesman power wagon) the holes on the three cross members were not QUITE the right distance apart to hit all three sets of mounting points. Took a dremel to the middle set to slightly T shape those ones, hit it with some paint, and all good!

The new sliders look sick, but I already have a set of WKOR to install this weekend.

Any other options for rear diff guard for the 11.5” housing other than the Purple Cranium and AEV cover?

I had to back up over some rough terrain last week and the rear diff housing took some hits…. Fortunately the cover didn’t get hit but it sure had me worried and thinking how it’s probably my only real vulnerable part on the truck.

The Purple Cranium is probably the route I’ll go due to their competitive price…I just think it’s kinda ugly.

Also my radius arms seem to take a lot of hits…I think they are pretty solid though, not too worried about them
