Recommendations on door 6x9 and dash speaker upgrade

Nothing is like the old days. You can't throw on a K&N Filter and get HP. You can't just throw speakers on it and expect it to be better.

I learned that a few years back. Replacing the door speakers will gain you a clear, less muddy sound, but you do lose pretty much all your bass.

I am a total audio guy. I have been since I was 16. For every vehicle I've owned, I've had to throw a system in. I like my music to sound good. Loud when I hear a good song. Not bass - cracking window type stuff. I listen to all sorts of music,

So when I had my Power Wagon, I went all out. I just got this 2022 Ram 2500 CTD and I was able to remove everything from my old truck.. I plan on putting it in this truck when it cools off.

I will say, if you guys want a simple upgrade - try just the dash speakers first. Those make a huge difference alone on the sound.

The dash speakers made a huge difference, all 3, the rear door speakers also made a huge difference in definition and Soundstage as well as the front doors, now I just have to add the overhead tweeters. I have been at this car audio stuff since the mid 70's and I am an A/D/S/ speaker freak, I wish they still made them but I do have 3 pairs of their car speakers and 2 pairs of home speakers.

I used the same playbook as the previous FCA Alpine equipped vehicles, but this one actually sounded the best factory. For now just did the ref3022cfx in the dash, all 3 of my OE's were the cheapo 2ohm's I've come to hate from FCA in the dash location on the Alpine systems. Immediately cleared up the sound stage, got rid of the crackling at higher volumes, and the imaging is so much better. Was going to explore other options, but I already knew I liked how the infinity dash speakers play with the Alpine systems so I stuck with the safe bet.

I used the red wolf harnesses and they were setup with the correct polarity comparing to the factory speakers. Easy job taking coffee/smoke breaks between each speaker got it done in about an hour and a half with the center being the most finicky to get lined up going back in. Once it's no longer hotter than hell I'll do the doors starting with the front woofers so I can deaden and foam them. I'm probably going to go with the CDT 2ohm's that are popular on the halfton forums for the Alpine systems.

These are all 2 ohms and they all sound pretty damn good right now. For midranges, I left the factory speakers in the front doors and the center dash. The JBLs have great highs without being too sharp, harsh, or tinny. They seem to take the factory power very well.

I went from 6x9 to 6 1/2 in all 4 doors, all Morel, 3 NVX soft domes in the dash, Pioneer sub replacing the factory one and Hertz tweeters in the roof, you sure you had your speaker polarity correct, that will kill bass

I got the adapter harnesses too, the front ones had the wires switched, I had to move the terminals to keep the polarity correct.

I just did the 3 infinity’s in the dash and rear only 6x9’s and lost almost all the Bass as posted above. 9633ix rear

Going back to stock rear door speakers.

Those are some nice speakers. The 8ohm to 4ohm will lose a bit of bass, but you're also taking a 15-watt channel, that was matched with a 15-watt 1-way speaker, replacing it with a 3-way 300-watt speaker.
That speaker isn't even being pushed. If you want to run that speaker, you'll have to run an amp.

I installed 4 Rockford Fosgate 3 ways 6x9s. I was told not to run a 3 way in the rear as it gets rid of the stage but I had them. I run them with a Kicker 5 channel amp and they freaking SCREAM!
It might be something you have to look into, or maybe find a 6x9 that doesn't have such a high RMS.

Definitely go with efficient speakers and I like 2 way silk dome tweeters, spoiled from car audio I'm the 70's and 80's
