recall Y 78 HP fuel pump

I had recall done (Y 78) a few months later, when trying to start it in the morning ,it took 3 tries before it started. took it to dealer dealer said the pump had been changed but the PCM flash had not been. Please can someone give me feedback?? thanks
 
cp4 to cp3 fuel pump update was done without the flash is what it sounds like. which would be strange. does it run better now?

Thanks for trying to answer. Straight forward if dealer change pump but didn't up date software can that effect the pump or ware it out??
 
fuel ramps and similar are likely not optimized which may cause driveability issues.

No at dealer with metal shavings all through the system. ????
 
so you don't have the truck back? it's at a dealer with an exploded cp4?

That's what they are telling me anyways. Is it possible that the cp4 started to go bad they replaced it with the cp3 but didn't do checks to see if it had already did damage??

That wouldn't shock me, OP should find some before and after pics of the Y78 recall and go to the dealership and verify himself if it looks like the recall was actually done. Dealers are so shady, I don't trust them at all and always visually inspect their work and check fluids after they touch my truck.

2 Short stories of Dealers being shady.

1st, back in the 70's my grandfather had a parts delivery Van for the shop, and the transmission kept overheating and catching fire somehow (never got the details on why it caught fire I assume it would puke trans fluid on the exhaust) and he always kept an extinguisher close by so he'd rip the dog house open and put it out before it got outta hand. Brought it back to the dealer once, they said they fixed it. Couple days later over heated & caught fire again, brought it back they said they were going to replace the transmission. Got it back with a "new" transmission, couple days later over heated caught fire again. So this time he etched his initials in the case somewhere inconspicous and brought it back, they claimed they were going to replace the transmission AGAIN. Got the van back and the service manager told him it had another fresh transmission in it, so my grandfather walked outside and checked for his intials. Sure enough, they were there, so he brought the service manager outside and showed him. The service manager, being backed into a corner, and embarrased went off on my grandfather for putting him in that position. I think they ultimately did put a new transmission in the Van and that fixed the issue. This is one of those stories my grandfather told me several times over the years, but details are fuzzy now and I lost him in august 22' so it sucks I can't ask him about it otherwise I'd get all the details again.

2nd, a good friend of mine, his ex wife got a big settlement from GM back in the 90's because she had a Firebird that had a recall for seat belts, something was messed up where the seat belts plastic components would get brittle from UV exposure and high heat. She took the car to the dealer to have the recall done, and they supposedly did the recall, they had the documentation stating it was done. Well, she got into a nasty head on collision with that car and of course the seat belt failed and she shattered her jaw pretty bad on the steering wheel. He told me about this because I happened to go to the same Surgeon in staten Island for my TMJ issues that his ex wife went to for her reconstructive jaw surgery back when she had her accident.

Long story short, always double check dealership work.
