I am working on designing a lockbox that goes in the pocket under the rear seatback, this is measured off my '22 Ram 2500. This is not for the storage box that comes in the trucks factory, but I would like to know if anyone would be interested in buying them if I made a run of them.

If this is not allowed please let me know.

What does it look like and what are you asking for it?

How is it installed?

I am still working out the measurements to clear the cables routed through this area, such as heated seats, footwell lighting and so on. I will be 3d modelling the design so once I render it I can give a general overview of the design.

I am planning on making a mounting plate that uses the factory seat bolts, then the lockbox will attach to that plate.

Pricing is kind of dependent on reception at this time. If only 2 people are interested I'm not going to be selling them. But if there are atleast 5 people interested then I will source a shop to plasma cut or waterjet the parts to make the production process possible and affordable. That is why I left the poll open for 3 weeks to see what everyone has to say.

Would be interested in one for a split rear seat on my 3500, depending on what you come up with.

I might be interested with some more details. What materials will it be made from? What finish will it have? How will it mount under that space? What kind of locking mechanism will it use?

Considering 3500 and 2500 should share the same cabin I can work with you to make sure it will fit and we can see if adjustments are needed

I am thinking 14-16ga steel, I am thinking a wrinkle black paint or possibly powder coat depending on costs. There will be a plate that attaches to the two rear most seat bolts and the smaller bolts used to hold the fold flat floor, there will be threaded studs to mount the box from the inside to the mounting plate. The interior will be lined with a marine grade carpet and caps over the nuts used to secure the box to the plate. I am exploring locking mechanisms now to reduce the chances of prying.

You can work through the design here, but conduct sales through a thread in the buy/sell/trade forum.

This is all outlined in the site rules. When in doubt, reach out and ask.

Something similar to a tuffy box i had in my jeep would be great for secure handgun and wallet etc.
Thats what I am going for without the loss of my center console. I will be doing more work on the 3d model this weekend, possibly try to 3d print it to test fit.

I would b intrested aswell if its functional @ a reasonable price. Lmk Im waiting on my in floor storage bins 2 b delivered. Im thinking Since the truck will torn apart. Perfect opportunity 2 get installed.

Sorry for the delay, I have had a lot of work projects come up but I was able to get this rough idea modeled.

So the baseplate would mount to the existing seat bolts/studs, there will be some welded studs standing up on top of the baseplate for the shell of the box to mount to. Then the shell would have a welded ring inside predrilled to match the studs on the baseplate, and you tighten it down with some nylock nuts, place your carpet liner in the bottom to cover the edges and the door would obviously exist as well with a lip around the front side to reinforce everything.

The entire interior would be lined with carpet to protect your items placed inside and prevent rattling and the lock is still up in the air.

Just wanted to get some opinions.

I might be interested also. I currently have a combination lockbox in this same space secured with tie down cable and padlock. It would be nice to have a more stationary and tamper-proof setup but won’t spend big money for it. Current lockbox was ~$150 with tie down cable and padlock. Looking forward to seeing the finished plans.
