Rear Fuel Filter?

I'm looking and thinking the rear fuel/water separator filter on the 2019 Cummins trucks may have changed from the previous spin-on. It looks like the manual shows a canister type filter/separator and talks about unscrewing the lid like the front filter. Has anyone crawled under there and taken a look?

It appears to be different on mine. The interval has change to 15K as well. No part number is listed in the diesel supplement.

That's what I noticed in the Diesel Supplement. There is a different cannister shown. I emailed Genos a few days back asking about this. They never have gotten back to me. It looks like a change. Hopefully someone will come up with the info and a source on what this filter is. Maybe it will be less expensive than the old style (fat chance?).

Just saw an "under truck" video, and the rear filter/separator is totally different, for sure. Has a drain valve, and a cansister.

Under pickup bed, in front of axle on drivers side. Remove the outside canister, no need to unplug stuff as best I could tell in the video I saw.

It will be great when someone can come up with a part number for the new filter. It looks like it won't be too bad to change. especially since we won't have to pull the electronics off every time.

watch that video...I think you can get the part number from there...it's toward the end

Hard to find much info on that part number. A couple of the Mopar sites have it for about $87 which seems high for a cartridge type water/separator filter. I wonder if that is the price for the whole assembly? If not, a fuel filter change for these things is getting awfully expensive.

There is a second number below the filter number 68358393AA, which is a fuel filter on multiple Mopar and dealer parts sites. The other number is 72097-AP-0519 but a search doesn't show that part number on any sites I looked at. From the new Diesel Supplement it says the following which may explain part of the price difference if each filter also comes with a WIF sensor "NOTE: WIF sensor is re-usable. Service kit comes with new o-ring for filter canister and WIF sensor."

I got this reply from Genos:

The new chassis filter for the 2019 Ram
heavy duty trucks is still made by Parker/Racor and is made specifically for
Mopar. It is a 10 micron cartridge style filter and will require the same
28mm socket to remove that is used on the engine mount fuel filter.
At the moment they are not in stock anywhere but we hope to hope them
available in a couple of weeks. At that time we will have pricing available.

Update:

Called Genos today and he does have them for $48

I called a large parts house here in town and they don't

The largest Ram dealer here in town doesn't have them but said the part # is 68436631AA ??
but he also said they should have them in a short amount of time ??

It does kinda blow your mind that something as important as this part would take so long to come out and the 2020's are just around the corner.
