How many miles left on diesel after gauge says zero?

Living dangerously, huh? 
Personally I wouldn't ever drive beyond Zero on the fuel gauge. You just don't know how much range you have left.

Lol. Well i got caught on a stretch of hwy where i had to make a descision to push forward or turn back.
The next fuel stop was 16 miles and the dash said 13. It quickly went to 0 right after it read 10 which is about when i panicked.
I made it, filled up and only took 28.5 gallons. I'm not even sure what size tank I have. My 2014 MC took right at 30 when i ran it slightly past 0.

It's a metaphor!
I pushed the limit last July towing the doghouse. Range to empty maintained pretty good accuracy for the last 50 kms. Pulled into the the pumps with the fuel lo thingy blinking and showing about 25 kms of range left. Tank took about 115 litres, which was pretty much bang on. The fuel gauge was pretty much zero by then.
