RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

Well I spoke too damn soon. The dealer called me back 30 min later and said parts were not available for 2019, only 2020. They said maybe ramcares can assist so I called them and they concurred. Said to call back in a week or wait for a letter in the mail.
Funny thing is should the older trucks not be first…

You would think! Oh well hey I did what I could on my end, if it blows and costs them more money they can’t blame me.
I guess that means us 19s will be pushed till next calendar year at the rate dealers can get pumps and get em done…

Confirmed by my dealer also that only 2020 parts are available currently. Just to note, if the tech finds any debris when diagnosing, everything in the fuel system including rails, fuel pump, and FUEL TANK, gets changed according to my SM.

Well I would drive to the dealer and pour fuel all over my ‘’19’’ and light her up but can‘t afford the fuel to drive there or to pour. :( Colour me confused. I have had my good to go letter stuck to the fridge for monthso_O.

Well if your are gonna drive it to burn it you may as well put the cherry flavored diesel in and save atleast 10 cents/L!!!

[MOD: PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC]

By the way, the message I got from my Service Advisor about an oil change next week and getting the fuel pump recall process started.

Good afternoon, I do apologize for missing your call. I would like to have the tech inspect the vehicle on the 19th appointment first before ordering a part. I would rather fix the vehicle correctly instead of throwing parts at it. Especially since there are 20 parts listed on the recall form.

I dropped my truck off today, the kit came in this morning. They did caveat that if they found shavings during inspection they'd have to order the complete kit (injectors, lines, pump, etc.) and that they were only allowed to order one of those kits every 2 weeks.

Just called my dealer and they said parts are not available in Southeastern Wisconsin. My Ram App says my recall is incomplete but parts are available, ugh.
Who did you call? I am in Madison area and called Russ Darrow. He said they have to do an inspection to determine if my fuel pump needed replacement. I am confused, I thought all of them needed to be replaced. He also said he does not know what the inspection entails as they have not done one yet.

They have to inspect to see if they need to replace EVERYTHING, instead of just the pump.

Some dealers are doing the inspection, then ordering either just the pump replacement kit, or the total replacement kit

Some dealers (like mine) are ordering just the pump replacement kit, then doing the inspection and ordering the total replacement kit if they find metal shavings.

edit:

by everything, I mean lift pump (in the fuel tank), fuel lines, injectors, and the high pressure fuel pump, vs just the high pressure fuel pump

As of this morning, my local Ram realer is still saying they haven't had any word on availability of any parts.

I'll jump back in to get notifications again. Haven't called my dealer once since I bought the truck, so I guess that's a good thing? 2020 built in Feb, sold in April 2020 12K so far, but will put 1500 on soon before the pump gets installed.
Just wondering... has anyone pulled the deal out and looked at their screen Before contacting the dealer? Seems it would be good information to know first? Not that they would ever lie.....................

I did just call my dealer service department. He seemed to know about the TSB for checking the screen, and ordering parts. At first he thought I was a customer who had already ordered parts, and thought he could get to it late next week to make the swap. Nothing too disturbing in the conversation. It's a small town dealer in Kansas owned by a Large dealer in Kansas City. He said I could bring it in for the "screen check" and wait while they did it. Then get the parts ordered for me. Here's hoping it goes smooth.................................

Miller Motors in Burlington, just called this morning and they now have an order in for the parts sounds like. I have bought my last couple of vehicles from them and generally have a good relationship.

Called my dealer here in NE Ohio and he said he had no idea when they would get the parts. He also said I have to wait until FCA sends me a letter telling me parts are available. Maybe availability depends on location? Just got off the phone with another dealer and he told me the same thing.

I’m in Cheyenne, WY 2019 3500. Called and scheduled. Dealer said no worries, date set for 14 June.
Not sure why many are getting a run around but then again, I may just be optimistic and yet going to be pissed later. Who knows. Expecting the best outcome.
