So I’m in a real dilemma. I ordered my 2022 Longhorn 2500 with ram boxes. About 3 weeks after ordering I was horrified reading the problems owners were having. I called my dealer immediately and said take off the boxes. He told me it was too late without even trying to change the order. Fast forward my truck arrived last Friday. It looks beautiful but of course the drivers side Rambox is totally out of alignment. I got in a huge verbal altercation with my truck salesman. He basically said if you don’t want it you lose your $1000 dollar deposit and I will sell your truck in less than a week for $10,000 over sticker. So I’m am so tempted to just walk away and lose a grand. I don’t want a Rambox issue haunting me constantly. What put me over the edge is when I just happened to go by my dealer on the way to my job. I see a truck pulling out of service and thought is that my truck being brought out. Well lo and behold it was and guess where it was headed. To McDonalds driven by a service rep. I was pissed…here is a guy with not one penny invested in my truck going for food as if he owned it. Of course the dealership thought this behavior was perfectly fine. Soooo what to do? So frustrated

Welcome to HDRams.

3 weeks in, an order cannot be changed. It would be a complete re-order.

I hope you get things worked out. Stay on the dealer to fix it.

Dealer sounds like a real A-hole to me .....

Perhaps another dealer can help? They're not all bad....

If you're looking for the boxes to be perfectly aligned with identical gaps all around and completely waterproof, the boxes are probably going to be a frustration for you. This is especially true if you have a black truck and live somewhere it gets hot. The plastic lids just don't hold their shape as well as they should.

If you can live with slightly imperfect alignment and go in knowing that some water is going to make it inside the boxes at the car wash, I think you'll find them incredibly useful. On my previous truck, I only kept things in them where it wouldn't be a huge deal if a little water got inside. They're perfect for all the things I need to quickly get to at a campsite to set-up or break-down my trailer. Wheel chocks, leveling blocks, hoses, emergency triangle, ratchet straps, gloves, block of wood for the tongue jack, etc. I also kept one side mostly empty since I really liked being able to just toss in a bunch of bags after shopping at WM or the grocery store. I thought the loss of bed width might be a problem, but it was never an issue.

Now as far as the dealer driving my truck to McDonalds for food, that would tick me off as well. But, I wouldn't give up $1K over it . . .

I've had Ramboxes for years and am sadly familiar with their fit issues. My personal favourite is the delamination of the body coloured skin from the structure below.

As for the 1K, if the truck isn't critical to him I'd cancel the truck, present them with a demand letter, and go to the local Ombudsmen if they balk.

2019 Ram 2500 with Ramboxs and I've never had an issue with mine nor have I noticed any water getting in there.

If they are truly out of alignment you have a warranty that should cover fixing that. But honestly, it sounds like you have a little buyers remorse over choosing the Ramboxes. If that is the case, take the $1k loss and move on. I can tell you from first hand experience that if you buy that truck you will NEVER be happy with it and it will cause you more heartache and regret then it is worth. Cut your losses and move on.

Not so much buyers remorse as I’m paying over $90,000 for a new truck and don’t want something that is a constant headache. Moral of the story I should have read reviews on Ramboxes, I just never thought something so simple could turn into such a nightmare for many. This would have been my third Ram truck but the first time I ordered one with boxes.

Thanks to all your great comments and no not buyers remorse at all I just want quality. So here’s what happened and I about fell over. I wrote a message to the sales manager late last night who then called me first thing when they opened. He told me the whole McDonalds thing will never be done with anyones vehicle again and that he already spoke to them. Then almost immediately he said don’t worry I will get your $1000 back to you if you choose or if you want to reorder you can, or He would take $500 off of the truck I ordered with the boxes if I still wanted it. He stated he would reprimand the truck salesman for his attitude and ultimatum. So for now I’m taking back the deposit and working on building another truck. That truck I gave up is beautiful if not for those darn boxes. Very hard to walk away but all of you really helped my thinking….thanks. Why has Ram dropped so many exterior colors? I’m down to red, Patriot blue, granite crystal or delmonico.

Turns out the manager was cool but my salesman and I had a personality clash.
Well that's good. What are they going to do about the fit issue ?

Please do your research here on purchase price and discounts before another order. We don't want to see you back here in 4-5 months bellyaching that you paid too much. :D

Your salesman was right though, with all the trucks shortage, he could sell it for more than the sticker price.

I liked the idea of RAM boxes but ordered mine without as I'm sure they'd be interfering with hauling Truck Campers
