I just thought I’d let everyone know that the VIN based “look up my vehicle” payload and towing capacity page on ram trucks.com (https://www.ramtrucks.com/towing-guide.html) has finally been fixed to be truly accurate.

My payload sticker says 2816, and the site says 2815.91, so they‘re either doing a better job calculating from options or they’re actually weighing the truck.

That said, I would be hesitant to trust the numbers on anything but a 2020 until some people with 2019s verify theirs.

Yes, we discussed this in out payload thread. Thanks to 5th gen rams forum member Dawn as she fought the good fight and got them to finally recognize this. And it is accurate back to atleast 2015...so definitely to 2013. Possibly back to 2010 I would suppose.

Make sure you also understand that max towing is figured with 300lbs for passengers/cargo and 70 for conventional and 150 for 5th wheel hitching and 10 to 15% tongue weight.

So, if you load up your truck...that number will fall as you load

2009 and newer. Which would mean for Heavy Duty 2010 and newer

Mine is correct...and I have weighed mine aswell

Hopefully anyone towing heavy would be aware of that, but it’s definitely good to point out.

I think the real benefit of the site is being able to look up the ratings of vehicles while shopping online that you can’t see in person.

The payload is correct (at least matches the door sticker!) for my 2019.

The towing numbers on the website seem wrong. I have a 2019 Hemi megacab with the 3.73 gears, which should have a max tow rating of around 14k. But the website list 17k (which would be right for the 4.30 gears).

Did you use your VIN?

Yeah, that is definitely off..it is even more than the 4.10 lists for.

Configuration max is 14000 and 16500 for 4.10

Heck even the Cummins maxes at 16520.

Looks like they have some work to do yet.

Yes, mine has been corrected very recently. It is now only off by .34 pounds :) They round on the door sticker :) I have a screen shot from Nov. 16th, showing much different values. They have increased my towing capacity by a few hundred pounds and decreased my payload by about 160 pounds. I bought the truck for payload capacity, not towing capacity and with the 6.4, I am very pleased.

Yup!
The 4x2 Tradesman with 8' box, Hemi 6.4, and 4.10 gears has a tow rating of 17580 lbs (the same as the site reports my 4x4 limited mega cab).

"4x2 tradesman with 8' box" sounds like a default/uninitialized configuration in their database. I'd guess they somehow missed updating certain configurations properly and left them at default values. I grabbed a VIN for a random hemi 4x4 limited megacab for sale (3C6UR5TJXKG677829), and it has the same issue -- site says tow rating of 17731.98.

Cool to know it’s limits while I wait for it to show up.
