RAM deployable side steps

So I have the power deployable side steps from the factory on my 2019 Limited. Does anyone know if they can be locked in the down position and stay that way while the truck is in motion? With winter coming I wanted to keep them deployed. I feel like ice build up and whatnot will ruin them when they have to keep deploying/retracting. There is nothing on the touchscreen to keep them locked in the deployed position. I asked the dealer, nobody seemed to know anything about them.

When I test drove a longhorn last week there was a setting in the Uconnect to keep them open or closed

you need to find the option in settings
you have two options
1. cancel the auto mode
2. deployed

The Auto Running boards, no matter what is used to deploy them (using the settings to deploy the running boards) they will only leave them deployed until the vehicle begins moving. They will not stay deployed while driving

I would think deploying them occasionally would keep the ice from settling? Have you seen or experienced otherwise?

I had power running boards on my 2011 Ram, and now on my 2015 Ram. I live near Buffalo, NY, so lots of snow and salt. No running board problems in the snow. Sometimes if they get some snow on the top of the running board, they won't go up all the way, but I've never seen them down more than an inch and a half from all the way up. When you clean the snow off, they work fine again.

Can you provide the part number for your power steps?

Thank you in advance.

Resurrecting his thread. I would also like to be able to keep the steps down specifically when driving gravel to protect the dually flares. Mine just got hammered from a short gravel road drive. Steps down while driving would have prevented it completely. Seems silly they wouldn't have the ability to stay down, would even make it easier to wash them rather than having to pop open the door. @RamCares

Staying down while driving is likely seen as a liability so that's a non-starter.
You can deploy the steps in either ACC or RUN (forget which) from the Control Screen... I do it all the time when I park and when I wash the truck.

Mud flaps prevent that

Mud flaps prevent that
I have Weathertech mudflaps, which I will now be swapping out with extra long duraflaps. Also getting rid of my power boards for stationary to add protection. If anyone wants a set of gently used factory power boards at a good price let me know.

I always ran big flaps on my duallys usually just bought a couple transport flaps and cut them down so i could have extra wide flaps that way the slush and ice would not build up on them

Mud flaps work well if long enough.

Yep... bought my own flaps through Northern Tool and weights through Bores.
Spend some time mocking up cardboard before cutting and installing... I think $150 for everything...

I feel driving with them down is a bad time waiting to happen. Kick up a road gator and wham.
If you're worried about them getting stuck in winter, spray the mechanisms good with some Fluid Film etc.
If you're trying to protect your dually flares, maybe look into some PPF and have them protected anywhere you're driving.
