I've been looking and can't find anything online for a current Mopar 5th wheel prep kit for my 2024 2500.

The part number I keep finding is 82215838AB which shows discontinued on all the Mopar sites, but none of them show what the current part number is.

I would like to use the Mopar kit but wouldn't be against going with an aftermarket manufacturer. What is everyone using for their 5th wheel system?

I installed the 5th wheel prep/puck kit in my 2021, back in 2021. I tried finding the link for part number but was unsuccessful.

A quick note, the 5th wheel prep kit did not include the goose-ball mount. That is a separate kit if you want/need that. You will also want to look into installing the 7 pin plug in the bed. Mine is near the 120v outlet on the drivers side.

I don't plan on doing the gooseneck mount, just the 5th wheel for when we upgrade our current TT to a 5th wheel.

It’s not a bad job. Drilling the holes in the bed is the most taxing….mentally! Measure a bunch.

Best ride is with a goose box, You may want to look into that and consider adding it with the pucks. Plus you get the bonus of having your complete bed when unhooked.

So you're saying the best option would be to install the 5th wheel puck system and also a goose neck?

I recommended researching the Reese goosebox and installing either the OEM gooseneck or B&W turnover ball.

I’ve towed our current 5th wheel with the OEM 5th wheel pucks and a B&W Companion hitch, the OEM GN ball and the goosebox, and now a B&W turnover ball with the goosebox.

There is no way I would willingly ever go back to a traditional 5th wheel hitch, the goosebox is better in every aspect except hitching. Hitching takes a little more work, but it’s negligible and manageable.

I prefer the B&W gooseneck hitch to the OEM one, but both are good.

Aside from the improved ride and handling, it’s really nice have an empty bed within a minute of unhitching the trailer and not having to store a huge/heavy hitch.

Just the gooseneck for a goosebox, skip the 5th wheel puck system altogether.

Yes if your going to do all the work anyways yes I would install both. I would have a hard time ever going back to a standard 5th wheel after I swapped over to a goose box. Just so many benefits and really I have not found any negatives yet. Hauling a Solitude.

Why install the 5th wheel pucks then?

On my current truck I just installed a GN hitch for that reason... no point in the time or money for the puck system when a goosebox is so much better. I would also go with the B&W turnover ball for ease of installation, tighter ball fit, and better safety chain setup.

I use the pucks for the chains. otherwise yes no reason for the pucks. The B&W is probably cheaper then the ram one and does the same work

True, when you get the OEM GN setup it has the rear pucks so the full kit is just 2 more pucks...but still not needed. I can't recall the pricing difference between the two, but the B&W is definitely easier to install.

Parts sites in Canada says 82215838AB "Currently Unavailable" , Dealer told me it was backordered, he ordered it took a couple of weeks, and i received it Aug 25 th.
I then installed it on my 2025 CTD 2500 , that their website says it does not fit.

Thanks for all the great information!

I took a look at the B&W Gooseneck Turnoverball and it looks like a great option. I watched the install video and it seems to be really straight forward. Will probably be pulling the trigger on it very soon.

Go with the B&W turnover ball, and you still can put in a 5th wheel hitch if you need to later on. B&W makes a 5th wheel that goes into a turnover ball slot, we have one for our truck and it works great.

My truck came with the puck system from the factory, but I have also tried various 5th wheel options and can report the goose box is the way to go. My truck is a short bed so I have the Gen-Y gooseneck ball that locks into the forward 5th wheel holes and the safety chain anchors that fit into the rear holes. I've also got the B&W gooseneck ball with safety loops. This is a really nice option because it fits into its own plastic case for easy storage in the front compartment of my camper.

Don't worry about mopar part numbers, go aftermarket.
When I ordered my 2019 3500, I've ordered it with a GN/5th wheel prep package and it arrived without. Dealer after confirming the f... up, was trying to swing me to install one or the other and I kept saying I wanted both as that is what I ordered, they are apparently 2 separate packages (GN and 5er) and both were on a backorder. Then they offered I go go aftermarket, I paid for it and they reimbursed it. Got what I wanted plus as a bonus got a GN ball with chain anchors. Pricewise was similar to the mopar parts, don't remember what was it but one of the big brands (thinking curtis) so yeah don't worry about mopar PN go aftermarket

I ended up going with the BW Turnover Gooseneck setup. Installation wasn't terrible, with the help of my son in the bed while I on the underside.

I have heard and read good things from folks using a gooseneck hitch but have also read of people having failed 5th wheel frames from them and some trailer manufacturers saying the use of a gooseneck voids the frame warranty. is there a data base where one could verify that towing their 5th wheel with one of these hitches is ok'd by the mfr. I too like the idea of the cleared bed. my B&W hitch weighs 240# so I use a hoist to add/remove it and that is a little bit of a hassle too.
