CC + SB seems to be the most popular configuration for obvious "good compromise" reasons.

Anyone have SRW CC + LB? What do you love/hate about it?

I am thinking pros are:

Better ride
Bigger fuel tank ($300)
More volumetric cargo capacity
More stable at highway speeds
No price difference?

and cons:

More weight (how much more?); fuel economy and acceleration/braking noticeably worse?
A bigger pain to park or drive around in town; how much longer is this thing?
Less towing/payload weight?
Looks kind of goofy from the sides to some

For your Pros:
I don't feel my 2020 CCLB is any more stable at highway speeds than my 2016 CCSB was

Extra Pros:
Can close the tailgate with full sheets of lumber in the bed
Can sleep in the bed comfortably if you're 6'4"

For your Cons:
I believe the longbed actually has higher payload than a shortbed.
Yes, it is a little harder to park, but not as bad as I expected.
Fuel economy, acceleration, braking feel nearly identical to my previous CCSB
I love the look, but yeah I could see how some may not appreciate it

Extra Cons:
Fewer lift options
Fewer aftermarket bed-focused options (molle side panels, bed racks, etc...)

Thanks for the feed back LTTP. Very good to hear. I just might order LB after all. I though it may carry less weight since the added ~22" of driveshafts, exhaust, lines, sheet metal, and frame may add weight that deducts from the total allowable weight?

Anyway, I think the CC LB look quite nice as well; I have seen some very clean ones with just a front level and 35 or 37" tires with nice wheels, and they look really good.

Didn't know the suspension would change in any way (for aftermarket lifts).

Long box is always better i would never buy another shortbox after my 96 i swore never again shortboxes are to small for a truck that gets worked.... plus look how good they look when put to work lol

Had an 04 1500 long box for 14 yrs, towing was never a problem, ain't no tail wagging that dog.
Parking was no issue either, once you got used to the extra length.
Mileage, it's a truck!
Best thing is an endless supply of space in the back, you never hear a long box owner saying I wish I had more length and small truck drivers get bed envy
And they look soooooo much nicer, so much so, I had to get another20210123_191333.jpg

I’ve never owned a short bed so I can’t really comment to their pros/cons. With a long bed you can run a toolbox and still have 6’4” of bed space. A short bed would probable end up being a little over 4’. Plus long beds just look good IMHO, but then again I’m preferential.

Could not haul this load in a 6 foot bed.

But a 6 foot bed does fit nicely in the 8 foot

But I always find myself needing more bed20200418_130557.jpg

Went from a 3500 SRW short bed to 3500 SRW long bed. The three main reasons were; never have to worry about hitting my cab when 5th wheel is attached, higher GVWR/payload and biggest reason was 50 gallon tank. The 50 gallon tank is worth every penny to me since I tow a 40' toy hauler.

I have had both, the only difference was parking for me.

In the end for me so many more pros than cons. Never want to have less that 8 foot again. Gt

Just ordered a new 2021 2500....

Time to upgrade my 2007 2500

I've always owned long beds, both SWD and Dullies.
Then I bought my 2016 1500 CC Ecodiesel 5'8" bed. Don't like the lack of room or the look
Bought my 2020 3500 CC Cummins HO SWD & 8' bed. Wanted the room and the 50 gal tank.
Yes, parking is a bitch but I use my 2016 as my daily. And when I use the 2020 I search for the best parking areas.
Love the 2020!

Thanks guys for all the photos and comments. I am pretty sure I will be going with 8'2" at this point.

The LB option is only $200, and another $295 for the 50 gal fuel tank. The bigger fuel tank is a huge bonus.

With all of the cameras and parking sensors you can get now, parking should not really be a big issue provided the spot is at least a bit longer than the truck itself..

SB is a non-starter for me towing a fifth wheel and using a traditional (heavy) hitch.

Adding a crossover toolbox still gives me a bed I can haul my ATV in if needed, though I prefer to use the trailer.

Can still slide full sheets under the toolbox with 6" clearance.

Larger tank is a huge win.

I do back into a lot of spaces when parking.

Never owned one...Always considered SB’s grocery getters.

I feel like my long bed rides better than the short bed that I had test driven. Option for the bigger tank is definitely a plus.

I had a 2019 1500 with the 6'4" bed because I knew I wanted the space for camping and getting lumber etc. I was dead set on the longer bed there.
For my 2500 I would've taken the 6'4" bed but definitely preferred to have the 8' bed...again more room to take stuff when camping and more space if we go 5th wheel in the distant future.

If parking lots are tighter it can be difficult to park the 8' bed. I started parking farther away as the truck takes a bit wider swing than my 1500 did.
It will stick out into the aisle if you park it inside the lines.

For me it was about versatility. The truck I replaced, which I owned for 21 years got used in many different ways, but I especially like being able to load up with a bunch of camping gear, bikes, Kayaks or whatever. I know you can do the same with shorter bed, but I just like the extra room and you get used to the length, although with the wheels pushed farther to the rear of the truck than my Old Ford you don't gain as much by backing into spaces. I also like to have a toolbox on the truck most of the time and it leaves plenty of space for most uses. I plan to set the new truck up with racks to carry kayaks like I did with my old Ford

I like the 8’ look. Plus I’ll add a 100 gal. fuel tank and saddle box and still have room for whatever in the bed.
figured it today with current MPG and I’ll be able to go 2000 miles with the fuel I’ll have on board.
