Hello
I have a 2022 Ram2500HD 6.4L Tradesman, that has a connect 3 with a 5 inch screen. The dealer says I can't upgrade the system because I bought it that way. I said 'HUH' and I left mad.
Do they not make different radios for my truck?
Please help me I just want to have GPS for my travels. I have a Tom Tom but I would rather have a built in screen. I will pay for a used one that has gps. Infotainment.com wants 1800 bucks but it doesn't say it will fit. I don't trust eBay. I would like the 8.4 screen if that works in my truck.

You most definitely can upgrade your radio - it's really just about what do you want in the radio. People have swapped them out with the slightly larger radios or aftermarket 12" versions - and I'm sure there's more options if you dig into it.

I wonder why the dealership said I couldn't.

no idea but they're wrong. search for "radio upgrade" on this forum and I'm sure you'll find plenty of threads talking about it.

Because there is no factory "kit" or instructions on how to do it. Dealers can't do anything without either of those, that can't just wing it these days.
People that have upgraded figured it out on there own.

You definitely can. If you provide your vin to infotainment they will pre program it and installation will be plug and play for you. you can save some money by not getting a gps radio and just using CarPlay nav off your phone

I upgraded my work 5500 from a Uconnect 3 to the Uconnect 5" that I took out of my 2019 2500 when I upgraded that to a Uconnect 12". Upgrading from a Uconnect 3 to a Uconnect 5" was pretty straight forward, BUT you have to add an OEM GPS antennae to it if you want to keep the clock synced. I just plugged one in and let it sit up on the dash, didn't bother mounting it on the roof, works fine that way.

you can upgrade to the 8.4 without nav. you canbuse android auto or carplay for nav..

Here is the link to my upgrade from the 5” to 8.4” and here are the part numbers I used. My truck is a 2020 2500 Tradesman.
