But why? Do you want to control the machine or would you rather the machine assume it knows what you want. I prefer the latter - the other option is, frankly, terrifying.
I think you need to edit that, you just said that you do not want to control the machine, and that if you did control the machine.... it is terrifying.
"I prefer the latter", meaning of the 2 ways you provided, you prefer that the truck control you. (First being you control it, second being it assumes to know all). I do not think that you meant what you typed?
Now as for me, I would prefer that the truck see that the 7 pin connector is attached to a trailer and react with a general pre-set change in software to support trailer towing. I would also desire that as long as the truck sees that the 7 pin is in use, it should maintain any trailer/towing related settings until I disable them or until it observes that the 7 pin connector is no longer in play.
I am one that gets annoyed that every time I shut the ignition off, I have to pull away and remember to enable the towing mode.
Now... what I want way the heck more than trailer tire pressure gizmos is.... Trailer Anti-Lock brakes that integrate into the trucks brains! I want to be capable of turning the trailer brakes up to the level of skidding and then use wheel speed sensors and brake modulation to prevent smoking flat spots into the tires in the event of hard/emergency braking.
That would be amazing, safe and game changing. All you scientists and electrical goobers.... go to work!
