I found a truck that is in transit to a local dealer. The truck is pretty much how I would order it except for the side steps. It won't ship from Ram for another 2 weeks. Internet sales team says I can place it under contract now if I want it. Has anybody done this? I am not sure how much leverage I will have but I may give it a try. I am curious if the truck won't leave the manufacturer for a couple of weeks if I can get them to switch out the fixed side steps for the deployable side steps. I will ask, but it would be good to know going in if anybody has had success getting a change made this late in the game. I assume I can at least stop them from adding any dealer add ons! No $295 nitrogen fills!

Some dealers around here will do a $500 refundable deposit. They have nothing to lose, the truck IS going to sell in this climate.

Besides, probably the worst you get subjected to is that the factory incentives usually only apply at time of delivery. Well wouldn't you know it the factory incentives are garbage right now. $500 bucks for 6.4 HDs and I just got an amazeballs $750 off a Cummins. Oooh $750 off a $67k truck! I'M RICH! LOL.

Most of your discount will come from the dealer, not factory, so they already know what they have in it and what they can take bottom line.

They won't be doing fire sales on these this year. Supply and demand tells them they don't have to.

If it's what you want, lock it in. Consider what the truck is worth to YOU. Don't get robbed, but don't get caught up trying to be that forum guy that got 25% off plus a handy from the receptionist because he is teh supar negotiator.

If it's what you want and you can get a fair price, make it happen, Capt.

Don't forget the incentives that are out there.

USAA or PenFed $1,000 (True Car leads)
Sams's $500
Allstate $250 rebate (just need a non FCA vehicle to register).
??

Heh, Brutal, any idea if the sams and penn fed are stackable. I haven’t been able to find that particular answer, but I suspect they are not. Both seem to be true car leads.

I think they're all truecar lead generation, so no, not stackable.

I used USAA, truecar lead and got the Allstate rebate.

I just bought a truck that was in transit to the dealer. We worked out the price, I got the numbers from then IN WRITING, and then gave them a deposit. Everything went well. But just like anything, make sure you trust the dealer. And if you make the deposit, make sure it is refundable, especially if the truck is not as described. The main thing I would worry about would be shipping damage. Probably not as common with HD trucks as it is with low to the ground cars. Don't ask me how I know about that one.
