Price negotiated from MSRP

So Ive been offered $1k over invoice... but where do I find invoice? Seems to me it was pretty easy online but I’m actually struggling to find invoice/msrp as you build with options. (I have found invoice/msrp on base model by trims but no option to customize to match your build.

any tips/tricks?

If you are ordering a build, i.e. not taking one off the lot, you should ask for a Priced Order Confirmation or POC sheet. That will give you a ton of information. My understanding of all the abbreviations on that sheet are:

MSRP
FWP: Invoice price for each option and total invoice price
FFP: FCA Affiliates Price, "Friends and Family Price"
EP: Employee Pricing
HB: Dealer holdback

Some have reported that their dealer will not provide this. When I asked my dealer they provided the documents within a few hours for a couple of options I was looking at. Unfortunately I don't know how to help if you are selecting a vehicle off the lot. Maybe you can ask for the POC for the specific vehicle you are looking at.

I walked out on a PW deal two weeks ago over $522 or a set of step bars that the truck needed for my vertically challenged self! I told the salesman before I drove an hour to see it that I get supplier pricing (aka FFP) through work and he could work numbers from there. It's my understanding that it is 1% below invoice and they are reimbursed by FCA. Got there, drove the truck and my daughters were in love. I knew the truck had a bunch of goodies I would never use and didn't need so I put a number in my head and refused to budge. This truck came off the rail car the day before and could have been sold in less than 24 hrs of possession but they chose to play hardball, stating they should have never given me that price ($60,667 out the door with a sticker price of $62,100) to begin with. I said thank you as I instructed my daughter's to put their coats on and we walked...over step bars.

They tried contacting me the day after I ordered my loaded up night edition at a local smaller dealership to see if I was interested. I asked if they had thought more on the price and he said no, actually some of the Ram bucks had been used by other buyers so the price was higher. I kindly thanked them for their time.

Well...after 17 weeks my truck is supposed to be at dealer tomorrow and be picking it up this Sunday from them.
Finally got my price, there are NO incentives for the '21 at this exact time except the $1500 bonus offer i have (i also got a $1000 one but was only allowed to use one...?) According to my dealer

Here's my window sticker, and here's what dealer just sent me...FFP essentially, comes out to $4000 off msrp, plus my $1500 bonus figures to 9% of msrp....only thing I don't particularly "care" for is the $799 administration fee seems kinda high, and also a "title handling fee" lol ....no? Regardless im not going to cry over a thousand or 2 after this long of a wait...and plus im just tickled pink to not have a cp4.2.

I’m not that easy on bs fees. 1-2grand is better left in my pocket than some sleazy dealer’s.

$1K OVER invoice?

No, that's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

If you're ordering; Invoice-Holdback-$500 minus any rebates or incentives. No BS "Doc" or "Administrative" fees, those are pure accounting back office BS fees. The dealer's operating costs are already baked in.

I know, I sound like a broken record.

How does this deal look on a new 2020? Is there room to go lower?

Not all dealers are sleazy? Everyone who works an honest day deserves a few bucks. I bet many of us tip 15 - 20 percent, and yet see the dealer as the enemy who must be crushed at all costs.

so I hear you but I’m just not seeing those deals in SoCal. A few thousand off is newsworthy, many dealers won’t even offer that. There are exactly zero limited mega 2500’s within 100 miles of here. A sellers market you could say.

beyond that, a few grand one way or the other is a rounding error in the grand scheme but having a great dealer that is ready & willing to make things right (and a chill no pressure salesperson) is priceless.

The "dealer" 2 miles from me gave me a price of 58,434 on a 2500 build. I had a $1000 check wrote for a deposit. I asked for floor mats to be added for no cost. They declined saying " we're not making anything on the deal as it is, sorry". I gave them a week to come to their senses and after two weeks asked again for a price. They came up with 58,550.
I ordered from a dealer 2300 miles away for 55,850.
I wouldn't call them "the enemy".
Gimme another word to describe them.

Shortsided!

Anyone interested in better deal then Mark Dodge in Lake Charles PM me and I’ll send you contact info, Mark Dodge tried to beat my my local dealers quote and couldn’t. Located in Florida. Sales guy is awesome, and easy to work with, he sold more then 27 builds in December, and shipping times with them seem to move quickly as most trucks ordered in December are coming in February.

If I am thinking right that is about 12% off MSRP so it looks good to me in this market. On my order last week I shopped several dealers and the best prices were all about 9% off MSRP. I see now you said 2020 model. Mine is a 2021 so might not be a good comparison.

Thats 13.55% off, and I'd say yes for a 2020 I think it could be lower.

On the new build thread I see some saying they are having a tough time getting a couple thousand off. Sure this is a 2020 model .....probably varies by market. I would go out of state or go without unless I could get at least 10% off. Waiting for months is not something I would want to do.
