Price negotiated from MSRP

Hello- First post here. Hope it to be many in the future. I have wanted a Ram for 10 years and am finally pulling the trigger. While the Black Friday sales on the 1500's are attractive I am in the market for a 2500.

I am in the Northeast and its slim pickings and not many incentives I qualify for. I will be negotiating purely on MSRP.

For a 2500 what % off MSRP should I be negotiating for?
This is the first offer that came in. I am looking for a Black Night 2500 there are exactly 10 in 100 miles of me, I am not sure how this affects offers but this is 0% off compared to the deal you all are posting.

$56,845. MSRP
$56,277. Sale price
$500. Rebate
$55,777 Plus tax, reg, and dealer fee

I am in the Northeast but willing to travel for a deal if I have to.

Yeah, I would advise not taking this deal and never stepping foot on this dealers property again...Unless you are their to kick this salesman's Azz!!

I agree, there are several dealers out there that will give you 6% off invoice price from the start. Even to have a truck shipped across country is a little less than $1,000. You can do much better on price than this deal.

Finally found the truck I want. Here’s the final offer after a few rounds back and forth. Looks like 13% off msrp. Pull the trigger?

Go for it - it's what you want. I can't say the 13% is good because they don't break down the 8235.00.
It would be better to know the dealer's discount off of the MSRP before any rebates. - that's the discount.
FCA's rebates and incentives are free to you, you own them, they are not the dealer's discount. Ask to see the dealer's POC - here's what a POC (my redakted POC) looks like. Notice it does not include rebates or incentives.
Dealer discounts are:
FWP = Dealer Cost Invoice
HB = Dealer HoldBack
FFP = Friends & Family Purchase Price
EP = Employee Purchase Price

What # before incentives as a % off MSRP should I be looking for? The offers I am getting range from 4-8% before incentives, trade, taxes, fees.

Many of the deals I see on here I am calculating at 10-12% off MSRP out the door, but incentives, trades, taxes vary.

Second question...no crystal balls but curious oppinions...with covid #s rising would you buy Nov, Dec, or new year. I won't make it till spring bc I hate my current truck.

The lowest discount would be dealer invoice, approx 6-7% off MSRP. The best would be employee price, approx 11-12%
I have no idea regards your second question. I personally would buy it anytime if the discount was right.

This is super helpful. Thank you

Hey everyone - I am getting ready to pull the trigger on this truck or find another like it.

I have a question about X-Plan and if I should just use it or try to negotiate differently. My plan was originally to reach out to Dave Smith (I am in Washington State) and see if they had one on the lot. Their website doesn't really show the options I want on their trucks. Once I had that reach back out to this dealer in WA and see if they want to play ball. Should I even bother or just use X-Plan?

I am asking because this is the first time I have purchased a vehicle remotely and doing it through email so I feel a bit more confident on the going back and forth instead of the up front pressure at the dealer.

Thanks for any help advice.

Dan

I just went through all you are doing last May for a very similar truck. What I learned is don't trust Dave Smith for anything they say, ask for their quotes in writing. I even gave them a deposit on a quote that they later said they couldn't sell at that price. The best, most professional, best price and honest was Dennis Dillon, also in Idaho.

I am not familiar with the X-Plan so cannot comment. I suggest get your best online quote, figure the cost of travel, etc to get an out of state truck and ask your dealer to match. I'd bet a Nickle they will come close, maybe even better. In my case, the local dealer did better than the out of state discounter.

Thank you very much for this info. I just requested the POC from the sales rep. Unless I am mistaken, the only rebate I could find, and was included in that final price, was $500 from Ram. If there’s any more available here in Dallas I’d be happy to know. Thanks again. Also. This will be in my company name, so the rate is a little higher. If anyone has a good lead on commercial auto financing, that would be great. Credit is 800+ and Ally has me at 4.99% for 60 months.

Congrats. Discount less 500.00 equates to 12.2%. Looks like you are getting Employee Price, the best discount.
Go for it! I can't help you with the financing

Thank you for the response. I will check out this dealer instead. I was trying to look on your post thread about your truck, but didn't see the payload sticker posted anywhere. Do you have yours handy so I know roughly where I am going to land? This whole payload stuff for towing the Airstream trailer we purchased is driving my upgrade from my 2015 Ford King Ranch.

Thank you!

I can't help with financing but I know that my credit union here in WA state is giving me 2.5% for 60mo and I saw that FCA is giving 0% for 36mo so 4.99% seems high on a new vehicle auto loan in the market it today for tier A credit it.

Sorry, I didn't say it right I don't think. There is a yellow sticker in the door showing showing info as well, right?. I am interested in seeing that one too. Thanks for getting me that sticker so I can see axles weights. It helps on this calculator I am doing.

Here is only other sticker

Have rates gone up?

That seems high, especially for a 60 month term.

I picked up my order in March and got 2.88% on 72 Mo. $45k through USB.

I am pretty disappointed. The sticker that I sent was from a dealership in Bellingham, WA and when they contacted me I asked about incentives and they told me that 1 tons are in demand right now and that they are not negoiating any incentives or pricing discounts beyond what RAM offers like the HD HO engine or something. The sales person started telling me that they had people come in and pay $5k over MSRP because of demand.

Going to email Dennis Dillon and see what they can do. This the second thing I have tried to purchase in WA state and gone out of state on. The Airstream we ordered in May was a huge strugglebus with the dealership not wanting to negotiate anything using the same excuse, and we ended up getting it from a place back east like 25% below the MSRP that the WA dealer was sticking firm on. I'm not trying to get unrealistic discounts off MSRP, but it is so weird to see people posting their experiences and it is just horrible experiences here in WA.
