Price negotiated from MSRP

I have noticed that some of the best deals on like Power Wagons is out in California. Here in Montana, they have like 3K to 7K markups over MSRP. They used to like try to minimize it, now they just stick it in your face. Now on other vehicles, CA, not so much...
Redfour5, I’ll trade you Cali prices for your views and freedom. Check out price negotiated from MSRP thread. Also I hear “Trace” out of Kellog Idaho hands out some pretty sweet deals.

I'm retired and sort of shop vehicles as a hobby...

The views and freedom are why I'm here. But population density is a big factor also. I hadn't heard of Trace... Dave Smith rules out there in Kellog, but what many do not realize is that Dave Smith was bought out a few years ago and is NOT the same thing it used to be... There are better deals. I had gotten that idea myself over the last couple of years. They are leaning on their laurels. It used to be family owned and they had decided to sell and make a profit on volume sales not individual unit sales. It worked. But it also made all the other Idaho dealers deal also. So you got people like Dennis Dillon and Peterson doing a similar approach if only to survive.

You can or could get likely the best deal in the NW at Peterson, but I've even noticed them not being as good a deal of late. But you can order from them at a decent discount... MT dealerships are dominated by Lithia a stock market listed company. Generally, they will screw you as is evidenced by the 3 to 7K markups but each dealership has some flexibility on how they operate so some dealerships are "better" than others. The small dealers are just trying to survive so no deals there. California dealers are...different...On trucks that we LIKE up here in the Northwest, they have some deals but on other more "California" type vehicles no deals at all it appears.

Some of the very best deals on trucks or Jeeps in the US used to be in Florida. Before this last year or so, low mileage recent model 4WD trucks and Jeeps could be had for extremely sometimes unbelievably good prices. Don't know now, wasn't going to drive three quarters of the way across the country diagonally to find out. I do searches on Cargurus and make the search for the whole country with my specific requirements just to see what's out there and so see this stuff. That's how I ran or rather stumbled across the one I bought. I had pretty much decided to keep my 1500 and just deal with it in terms of its towing. Loved it otherwise. I decided not to order one based upon this thread and the ever extended times, forced changes in build and general frustrations.... I was ready to travel to LaPorte Indiana before I found the one at Auto Ranch in Ontario ID. The LaPorte dealer is sort of unique. I also have relatives in that area so the trip would have served two purposes. He orders them to tow...in odd colors. He bought a batch of 10 2500's "Bighorns" in National Forest Green, 5 passenger (console) and somehow got the whole Towing package and a good mix. He was selling them at MSRP....but then I noticed he put a 3K mark up on them as they started to move fast... He apparently knows something (implied to me) that other dealers don't in terms of how the ordering system works, so he is able to get things others can't but, definitely in odd colors...

Used to be some good deals at like Hertz sales places. We had one here in Billings. Occasionally some really good prices, 15K to 20K miles but you know they have been driven like somebody stole them.

Got another number today:

$64,115 @ Order
$65,500 @ D status update
$67,490 @ D1 status update

Price at Delivery, unknown???

I didn't get firm price, I got 3% under invoice at delivery.
There has been approx 5% increase on my numbers since Feb 2022.

The sale price is like the first piece of the puzzle and there are many parts. Never focus to much on one aspect, look at an entire deal. You start with the sale price, look at finance options and rates, warranties because everyone runs a backend (finance department), trade value, time of the month (yes it can make a difference) and knowning the sales number of the store you are buying from as sales are incentive based. The more they sell the bigger the rewards for the dealer. If you focus only on the price you miss the big picture, work the deal not the price. I retired after 45 years in the car business.

When your truck goes kz the price will go back to the original invoice price. If the dealer tell you otherwise he's lying.

So why use that dealer? Mark Dodge in Louisiana isn’t all that far away. 11% under MSRP.

I didn't see your message in time. Finalized the order today. Night Edition doesnt seem to be available at the moment, got everything else.
Lakeland Dodge made me a deal a few dollars better than MD, not sure if your deposit is refundable, but it may be worth ordering from them, only a couple hours from Gainesville. Even if you can't get your deposit back, you probably still save money. Message me if you want details and contact info.

Dealer is not invoiced until the truck is built.

But they can request price protection at time of order.
I'm assuming MD does this? I sure hope so. The price that I got from Renae at MD is now less than the base price on the window sticker.
Order date was 1/28. Window sticker 4/02. Several price increases occurred due Q1.
The base price when I ordered was $56,xxxx. Final base is $59,495. MSRP $66,180. My agreed price at MD is $57,610. This now represents a whopping 12.9% below MSRP !! (the difference was about 11% at the time of ordering).

My truck MSRP went up $1800 between ordering and delivery. MD did not pass that on to me, I paid original quote.

Best to check with MD to confirm.

I've not seen nor heard of anyone getting stuck with price increases that ordered through MD.

Could someone please help with the details for the sales lady in AZ? I have a buddy down south of Tucson who wants to get a price from her.
Many thanks!

So I finally reached out to Mark Dodge and spoke to Aaron.

I got a quote on Ram 2500 MC V8 Laramie and one on a Limited. Within a few hours, I got the pricing email from Sandi. Both are a little of 11% below MSRP.

I am trying to determine if there are any manufacturer rebates on the 2500. Does anyone know? There are definitely more offers available on the 1500s. I do have Penfed ($500) and my company has affiliate # which I doubt helps me since I am already below 1%.

Any insights here?

I just finalized the purchase on my 3500 and was told there are no current factory incentives on the HD trucks. Penfed and First Responder/Military are all I've seen work for folks recently.

Things could be different by the time your truck is built and delivered. They can only give you what's in effect at the time you finalize the purchase.

Does military include veterans? If so how do I go about getting that discount? Joined penfed but have a month left before I’ll have the account for 60 days.
