Price negotiated from MSRP

You’ll cancel your order, lol. They’re legit

Well it would be a fun trip to fly back east and drive it home. If the offer is anything like what you guys are saying, I am hoping to cancel my order locally. There is no way in Cali they would be able to match it! Depending on the manufacturer, it’s still considered a win right now to pay MSRP!

OK well got the price back from Mark Dodge and its almost 8k cheaper. I priced out airfare, hotel and fuel to get it home. So I will give my local dealer a chance to match it with those costs added and if they do (they won’t) I’ll keep it here, otherwise a road trip sounds much better!

I'm in northern Calif and MD beat my local dealer by 3800. Made the deal for 11.5% off msrp, and ended up with 14.25% after Aaron found another 1k rebate at time of delivery. I waited 50 days from day of order until truck was on the dealers lot. I believe someone here beat that bya day or two. Mine was a 2500 Bighorn with not a lot of other options.

I ordered from Dolan in Reno back in December after showing them my quote from MD. They got within $1500 of the MD price so after taking into account travel cost I ordered from the dealer in Reno. Happy to share my salesman's contact info and save you the trip to LA.

Thanks @tchur1 . I am waiting for a call from my local dealer. I told them the price and I included what my airfare, hotel and fuel costs would be. I’ll add that into the price and if they can meet it or come close, I will stay with them - but it will be hard for them to do that I think. The MSRP on my build is $80,705.00 and MD’s offer is $71,415.00. Locally here they were at $80,205.00. I don’t see them coming down to around the $72,700.00 price (includes my expenses to drive it back) - but hey if they can - awesome!

MD also offers shipping. Think a member just posted their shipping to CA in one of the other threads. Also MD offers price protection. Meaning if the MSRP is more at the time of delivery, they honor the lower price. I believe this is not standard practice at all dealers so you may want to check into that.

Local guy won't. Plenty of CA guys have bought out of state (me included). just be prepared for all of the lovely CA crap when you go to tag it. You'll need to smog it, weigh it, and wait in line at the lovely DMV.

I had mine shipped from Lake Charles to Sacramento for $1600
Had it smoged, weighed, and DMV took about 20 minutes (benefit of living in a small town).
Didn't need to have it weighed, as the weight was on title ( and actually less than what scales read for actual truck).
If financing I don't believe you get title from dealer?
The check I had to write for tax and license was painful, a little over 5k. any further comment on that will get me banned, so I'll leave it at that.

There's no guarantee a dealer will be granted price protection and at least one other volume/deep discount dealer has stated it's getting harder to lock that in with RAM.

Similar to my experience other than my dealer collected CA taxes and fees when I signed paperwork.

CA sucks big cow bells. Ban me. :)

I have it in writing from MD that I get it for the agreed price and if not, I get my deposit back.

Possibly harder - I’d also think more costly to apply for price protection? Wouldn’t think it’d just be a “ make sure to check the price protection box”…would think it’d be something like a certain percentage of the MSRP. Could be completely wrong though..,but makes sense, that’s just another layer of profit a dealer would miss out on while trying to dip their toe in the deep discount world of selling cars.

the price increases have also probably been a little abnormal of late…mid year increases over a couple months that equate to $2-4k…2021 had about a $1k increase spread over 3-4 increases on a tradesman 2500

I already saw two significant price increases since I started building my truck in mid December. That coupled with certain ordering restrictions and option unavailability put me at pretty much max budget and getting a truck that is missing a few options that were on my want list. If the price is not what was discussed, I'll have no problem walking away. I'm assuming that the dealer has a decent profit and maybe some fudge factor they can play with. If not, I'll be pricing out 23 models.

I had a quote recently for about 9% below MSRP in California from Rob Trachtman at Tuttle-Click in Irvine. He has a good reputation over on the JL Wrangler forum. A little more expensive than MD but it might be more convenient for the California folks. He's at [email protected]

You can believe this or not.. msrp and invoice can go up,your window sticker may show that. but when the truck is invoiced and the bill sent to the dealer,he pays the original invoice price or real close..when a dealer tells you the invoice went up 2k he's lying..200 maybe..

I will agree with you on that for sure, When i bought my 2021 3500 last year the price went up about $700 on msrp but my dealer (Dennis Dillion CJDR in caldwell idaho ) didnt change my agreed on price a dime. In fact he found another $1500 of coupons and gave me that off the agreed deal to boot. In the end i was almost 13% off of MSRP so i was happy !

Oh man. I can't believe I didn't read this thread earlier. I heard about Mark Dodge on the r/ram_trucks subreddit. Guy there told me about the amazing savings MD is offering. My dealer in WA state is charging me MSRP, whatever that is at the time of delivery. I had another dealer about 10 miles away quote me $7k above MSRP due to "demand". MSRP has already gone up about $2k since I ordered on 12/2. Truck is due at dealer on 3/10. I'd hate to wait another 3 months, but..... for a significant savings, I might need to grin and bear it. I'm calling MD today. I'm currently slated to pay above $95k for a loaded 3500 CTD HO SRW Limited Night Edition Black. I have every option except the backup alarm.

This was very close to my experience. MSRP went up about 2k between the time I ordered and when the window sticker popped. Without price protection the price I paid increased by $145. When I ordered I was about 11.3% below MSRP, when it arrived I was 12.2% below MSRP.

I'm thankful I found this forum and thread. My local dealer had told me my $1000 deposit was refundable, and even if it wasn't, I am still saving about $8285.00 going through MD. With airfare, hotels and fuel I have another $1182 I will pay getting her home. I did the award breakup yesterday with the dealer, but I did tell them I would give them a chance to match their price along with the $1182 since that is what I have to pay to drive it home. I also reached out to Granger Ram in Iowa and between them and MD they are $38.00 apart. So if the local dealer cant match it, I will go with MD since they responded back first. Ironically, the two dealers between Iowa and Louisiana are only 40 miles difference for me to fly and drive them home. Thank you to ALL of you for the great information and helping me out!
