got a set of the PW steps/rails and ordered a hardware kit but I have never seen them on a truck. The smaller bolts that came with it have no nuts or inserts ,how do they thread in? Looked everywhere on the site and google but couldnt find any info.

they thread into the steps themselves. if you have mopar steps they will have threaded inserts. once you see them it will make sense. the bolts pass thru the pinch seam and thread into the steps.

These are the PW rock rails .I see on the back side of the rocker where the inserts will go but was wondering about the smaller bolts..I will get some pics of what I mean.

I have those rock rails and trust me you will see what I mean. your next question will be "they are impossible to get at" but no they are not just use a 10mm socket on a short extension.

Also when you go to put the rails/steps on, I found it easier to lift up and place the outside of the pinch weld on first, then roll the back side up into place. Insert one of the big bolts at each end but not tight, then inseret all of the other bolts before tightening.

You can look at the AMP step install instructions as that will help you some as they use the same mounting areas.
