Hey all,

Sorry if I havnt posted in the right spot, I'm new to the forum.

I just sold my 19 2500 and picked up a 21 1500, it has 18k on it and I'm having major problems with the power steering.

In the past 2 weeks, on 5 different occasions I got the "Power Steering Unavailable" message. I've seen it on this site on anything from a 1500-3500. Has anyone had any success getting this resolved? The dealership keeps saying no faults have been registered.

Today as I was exiting the hwy, it locked up and I god damn near went into oncoming traffic when it let go. These trucks arnt cheap, I should have a piece of mind driving a new vehicle. If it happens to my wife, no chance she's going to be able to react and pull it over.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rob

My wife had a 2019 1500 that the power steering would just quit. It happened while driving and also when you first started the truck. It was out of warranty and my friend at Ram found a short. He fixed it but said the electronic power steering was probably going out. Ended up trading it in on my 3500 and bought her a Jeep.

Ironically, the 1500 DT body- overall length, width, and height- is bigger in all three dimensions than an HD (crew cab 6’-4” bed vs crew cab 6’-4” bed).
Yeah, it’s funny how the overall vehicle height and the different shaped grill and hood really change the apparent size.

But their itty bitty widle axles, springs and frames are cute little things
